Today I swapped the salon for the classroom and headed to Norris Haircare Ipswich for a training day all about grey blending - and I absolutely loved it.

One of the things I’ve always loved about hairdressing is that there is always something new to learn.

Grey blending is such a beautiful option for clients who are ready to move away from constantly covering every grey and instead want to work with their natural hair.

It’s about creating a softer, more blended result that allows your natural grey to become part of the colour rather than something we’re always trying to hide.

And with more women wanting lower-maintenance, natural-looking colour, it was great to spend the day learning new techniques, refreshing my knowledge and bringing some new ideas back to Colour Crush Hair Studio.

Even after all these years, education is still such an important part of what I do. 💕

I can’t wait to start putting some of today’s grey blending techniques into practice!

Yep, I’m old school… and I’m not even sorry about it! 🤪

While everything seems to be online these days, I still LOVE my good old-fashioned paper diary.
There’s just something about sitting down with my diary, pencil in hand, and getting everyone’s appointments organised. And some of my Colour Crush regulars are exactly the same when it comes to planning ahead.

I have a few clients who like to sit down and book all their appointments right through until Christmas next year so they know their hair is sorted for the year.
And honestly…. IYKYK. 😁

Those weeks before Christmas have a habit of sneaking up very quickly, and once those popular appointments are gone…they’re gone.

If you’re someone who likes a particular day or time, works around a roster, needs evening appointments, or simply likes knowing your hair appointments are locked in well ahead of time, there is absolutely nothing wrong with being organised.

Life has been a little busy lately, and if you’ve noticed I’ve been a bit quieter on here, you’re not imagining it.
When you run a small business, you’re not just the hairdresser.
You’re the receptionist, social media manager, bookkeeper, cleaner, stock controller, content creator, customer service department, and sometimes even the IT support!

Behind every appointment is a whole lot of work that happens when no one is sitting in the salon chair.
Between running Colour Crush Hair Studio, being a mum to a teenager and now a 20 year old, keeping home-life ticking along, and navigating all the usual ups and downs of life, social media has taken a bit of a back seat lately.

But I’m still here, still creating beautiful hair, still learning, growing, and loving what I do.

Sometimes long hair just needs a little reset ✂️

My client came in with beautiful long hair, but over time the ends had started to thin out and were feeling knotty and a little lifeless. When hair gets to that point, holding onto the length can actually make it look less healthy.

So we decided it was time for a freshen up and to bring some life back into her hair.

We did a big chop, removing the thin ends and reshaping the hair with some soft styling around the face. Taking that extra length off has given her hair so much more body and movement, and it instantly looks fuller and healthier.

Sometimes the best thing you can do for long hair is let go of those tired ends so the hair can bounce back and shine again.
