Harvey Weinstein has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for s*xually assaulting former production assistant Miriam Haley.

At his sentencing, Haley spoke about the lasting impact of the assault and what the years spent fighting for accountability have cost her.

“Having been s*xually assaulted by Harvey Weinstein has had a devastating effect on my life and sense of security that may never go away.”

She also told the court:
“I've been further traumatised in exercising my right to hold him accountable.”

When we talk about cases like this, the focus so often remains on the perpetrator: his career, his downfall, his sentence, his health, his reputation.

Meanwhile, survivors are asked to recount what happened, withstand scrutiny of their character and credibility, endure appeals and retrials, and keep showing up.

Haley did exactly that.

Weinstein’s original New York conviction was overturned in 2024. Haley returned to court and testified again. In 2025, a second jury convicted Weinstein over the s*xual assault against her.

Jessica Mann, whose separate r*pe allegation against Weinstein was also prosecuted in New York, testified across three trials. After the most recent jury was unable to reach a verdict, prosecutors dropped the charge when Mann said she could not bear to testify again.

The burden of pursuing accountability for s*xual violence should never be underestimated.

Our thoughts are with Miriam Haley, Jessica Mann and the MANY women who came forward about Weinstein.

Their courage - not his notoriety - deserves our attention.

Flashback Friday! Remember when we called on Foxtel to remove their be******ty billboard?

We were alerted to a billboard in Sydney advertising the Foxtel Channel "Studio." The billboard featured an image of a man preparing to pe*****te a pig.

We shared information about the billboard on our page. Supporters began contacting Ad Standards and Foxtel, calling for the ad to be taken down.

Within 24 hours of speaking out, Foxtel pulled the ad and apologised. In a statement, a Foxtel spokesperson said the ad was "appalling taste" and "demonstrates a lapse of judgment."

Foxtel General Manager Chris Keely said Foxtel "did not intend to upset anyone" with the ad.

The billboard being taken down is a great example of community activism. Because you spoke out, we saw change happen. You made a difference!

One childhood photo. 7,000 s*xually explicit AI-generated images.

A Wyoming woman has joined a class-action lawsuit alleging her stepfather uploaded a photo of her taken when she was 11 to Grok, then used the AI tool to generate thousands of child s*xual abuse material images.

According to the lawsuit, her face remained clearly identifiable in the images, which allegedly depicted s*xual violence and abuse.

Her lawyer says she now feels “like her childhood has been stolen.”

This is why Collective Shout continues to campaign against Grok’s AI un******ng capabilities.

These tools don't create victimless, imaginary content. They can weaponise an ordinary photo of a real woman or child and turn it into s*xual abuse material at extraordinary scale.

Join our campaign calling on Apple and Google to remove Grok from their app stores until the ability to undress women and children is permanently disabled for all users worldwide.

US lawsuit follows cases of Grok-generated CSAM - **Take action**

A class action lawsuit has been filed against xAI - the company behind Grok - in the US on behalf of five child plaintiffs whose images were used to create AI-generated child s*xual abuse material.

From the article:

"The lawsuit alleges xAI and Stability AI provided AI tools that enabled the creation of the images and failed to implement safeguards that could have prevented the alleged misuse.

"The lawsuit specifically references Grok’s optional “Spicy Mode,” which the plaintiffs describe as a feature offering more adult-oriented content. The complaint also alleges that xAI and Stability AI failed to implement industry-standard safeguards that could have helped prevent the generation of illegal content."

"AI has opened up new ways for men to stalk and harass me" - Operations Director Coralie Alison's address at the launch of new online hate reports at Parliament House last month.

Child s*xual abuse survivor alleges Elon Musk’s AI chatbot used photos of her to generate new illegal images – as reported in The Guardian:

‘A survivor of child s*xual abuse has sued Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company, alleging that its chatbot used pictures of her abuse to generate new illegal p*rnographic images that depict her.

‘“Using real images of Plaintiff and class members, Grok generated child p*rnography depicting Plaintiff and class members,” states the complaint, which was filed last week in a US district court in California.

‘Attorneys for the plaintiff, who is listed as Jane Doe in the case to protect her identity, accuse xAI of both generating CSAM of their client and of ingesting child s*xual abuse images depicting her into the company’s datasets after new images were publicly posted.

‘The lawsuit alleges that xAI ignored industry-standard methods of safeguarding against s*xual abuse material, resulting in AI-generated child sexual abuse material (CSAM) appearing and spreading on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter.

‘Though Musk denied he was aware Grok had ever produced “any n*ked underage images” in January, his company sued two of its own users in late August who are facing criminal charges for allegedly doing just that.’

We’ve previously warned that real children can be exploited in the production of AI-generated CSAM, which can be modelled on existing CSAM and produce new virtual abuse content of actual children, revictimizing survivors.

Objecting to s*xualisation, not s*xuality: Campaigns Manager Caitlin Roper explains what s*xualisation is and how it undermines healthy s*xuality

Collective Shout campaigner Renee Chopping recently joined XRAY FM in Portland, Oregon, for a conversation about women’s safety and preventing s*xual violence.

We can teach women every warning sign and precaution in the book. But prevention cannot keep placing the burden on women to anticipate what dangerous men might do.

We need to ask what the men around perpetrators are seeing, laughing along with and ignoring.

Male violence against women is a men's issue.

New supporter and dad-of-daughters, Adam, started following our work after seeing our Ghanda campaign which calls on the popular surf brand to stop objectifying women and girls in its advertising.

Here's what Adam shared with us:

"Thanks for all the hard work you're doing to protect our girls.

The reason I signed up was that I have two young daughters and am deeply concerned by the hyper-s*xualisation of the feminine in our society. I want my daughters to know they are valuable for who they are, not as sexual objects.

Keep up the good work."

We love hearing from dads wanting to make the world a better place for their daughters!
