Gloria Tabi is one of those inspirational individuals you met that will inspire generations to look different, think different and act different.

Hair can sometimes seem like a surface level aesthetic for some, especially if it’s a hair texture that’s so over catered for… but it goes way deeper than skin deep for ally of people such as myself a person of mixed African Portuguese here.

It’s been rare occasions in my life I’ve been in a room and felt a true sense of belonging especially in the hairdressing industry I entered this space Gloria co created Hair Freedom EXPO Enable Women Africa

Thank you for opening up the conversation and creating pathways through getting textured hair education into our TAFES.

It’s the exact direction the industry needs to help make textured hairdressing more inclusive and appealing I’m so proud to be a part of this movement!

Along for the ride to Sydney was Hobarts Best Curly Hair Low Tox Inclusive Hair Salon incredible team leader Eli Eli Jones this lady truly encompasses the heart of what hairdressing is all about.

We both had moments where we were moved to tears from some of the empowering key note speakers and women of colour who shared so openly their sometimes relatable experiences I’ve felt growing up in a country where my hair texture is part of a minority. And Eli, she just got it! It was so nice having her by my side and the trip was a perfect mix of business and pleasure and fun!

I can’t wait to see what the future brings for textured hair in the industry and more salon spaces.

We don’t always get it right as leaders and sometimes it can be an incredibly hard thing to do and maintain a healthy nervous system and feel really vulnerable making big decisions for the greater good.

I felt seen and heard and supported in the company of the people of this room David Corry & Chelsea Johnson and it was bloody beautiful to find my people.

There were tears, there were big shares and lots of processing. This guy Tom Jarvis proves there’s always only 6 degrees of separation he actually used to work with Rachel Mr Walker’s Wiggery back in Perth when she had her salon! We thought it’d be nice to share her bio so you know who might be looking after you locks and giving you that incredible head massage at the basin Eye Am Hair

So what has brought you into hairdressing & how long have you been doing it?

I have been cutting my twin brothers and my own hair since I was a toddler, (this didn’t always end well) 15 years later and im still his hairdresser. After considering entering the hairdressing industry for a few years I found eye am hair and fell in love with the salon, and am overjoyed to join this incredible team. Growing up with a head full of curls I understand the struggle of embraceing and learning to style and care for them. My goal is to be able to help others love their natural hair.

What do you love most about hairdressing?
The creativity of it

What services are your strengths or specialties?

Just at the beginning of my career in the industry I am learning the basics, and will be welcoming guest into the salon and insuring they a comfortable.

What hair types or clients do you love working with most, or what are your favorite looks at the moment? (think about what haircuts your love to do the most)

I love curls, and colour. I love natural 70s inspired looks, and layers. I look forward to learning how to cut curls, and styling Big blow outs and bangs.

How would you describe your approach or style when providing service?

Creative and fun

What do you want your clients to feel when they leave your chair?

I want my clients to leave feeling confident, and refreshed.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

I feel inspired by historic and retro looks, from movies and editorial shoots.

What do you love outside of the salon?


I spend hours of my spare time wandering through opshops and tip shops hunting for treasures, I love travelling, nature walks, camping, and doing arts and crafty things. I love listening to music, and reading and going out with my friends.
