WHY ARE WE STILL TESTING BEAUTY PRODUCTS ON ANIMALS?
Itâs 2026.
We can send people into space, make cars drive themselves and create a filter that removes twenty years from your faceâŚ
But some enormous beauty companies still canât give us a simple, unconditional guarantee that no animal testing is connected to their products.
Seriously?
According to PETAâs current cruelty-free database, brands including:
â EstĂŠe Lauder
â Clinique
â Benefit
are not classified as cruelty-free.
Then thereâs M¡A¡C, which says it doesnât test on animals or ask others to test for itâbut also acknowledges that some governments may conduct animal testing as part of their safety assessments.
And that is exactly why this subject is so confusing!
A company might say, âWe donât test on animals,â but what about its suppliers, ingredients, parent company or testing performed by government authorities?
Vegan doesnât automatically mean cruelty-free.
Natural doesnât automatically mean cruelty-free.
And clever wording on a bottle is not the same as independent certification.
Look for a recognised certification such as Leaping Bunny, and check the companyâs current policy before buying.
There are already plenty of safe ingredients and modern testing methods available. No rabbit, mouse or any other animal should suffer so we can have longer lashes, smoother skin or a new lipstick for Saturday night.
Beauty should never come at the cost of cruelty.
Thatâs My Two Centsâif a billion-dollar company canât give us a clear answer, Iâll spend my money with one that can. đ
đŞ MY TWO CENTS â âIâM NOT A GIRLY GIRLâ
I am honestly so tired of hearing women say:
âIâm not a girly girl, so facials arenât really my thing.â
Ladies⌠Iâm not asking you to put on a frock, wear high heels and parade down Mayne Street with a handbag on your arm. đ
A facial is not a test of how feminine you are.
Itâs time out.
Itâs looking after your skin.
Itâs allowing your body and mind to slow down.
Itâs one hour where nobody wants anything from you.
You donât need to wear makeup.
You donât need to paint your nails.
You donât need to know anything about skincare.
And you certainly donât need to be a âgirly girl.â
I had a lady come in with a gift voucher sheâd held onto for nearly a year. She told me:
âItâs here, so Iâll use itâbut Iâm not into all this stuff.â
Fair enough. Challenge accepted. đ
Guess what happened when I finished?
She rebooked.
Because she realised it wasnât about being âgirly.â It was about switching off, being looked after and feeling bloody good afterwards.
Country women are some of the hardest-working women I know. You work, raise families, run homes, help on farms and look after everyone else.
Taking an hour for yourself doesnât make you girly.
It makes you human.
Self-care has no dress code. đ
Thatâs my two cents.

đ LYDIAâS METHOD #9 đ
WHY HAS MY SKINCARE STOPPED WORKING?
You bought the products.
You used them religiously.
Your skin looked fabulousâŚ
Then suddenlyâNOTHING.
Before you throw the whole lot in the bin and blame the moisturiser, your skincare may not have stopped working at all. Your skin may have changed.
Hormones, menopause, stress, illness, medications, weather, sun exposure and even heating or air conditioning can change what your skin needs.
You may also be:
⢠Using too many products
⢠Exfoliating too often
⢠Damaging your skin barrier
⢠Applying products in the wrong order
⢠Expecting one little jar to perform a bloody miracle đ
⢠Using products that are old or havenât been stored properly
And noâyour skin doesnât usually become âimmuneâ to skincare.
Sometimes the product is still doing its jobâyouâre just no longer seeing that dramatic improvement you noticed at the beginning. Maintaining healthy skin might not feel exciting, but it still counts!
Skincare isnât a marriage. You donât have to stay loyal when itâs clearly no longer workingâbut donât dump everything without finding out what has actually changed.
Before buying another ten products recommended by a 22-year-old influencer with perfect lighting, get some professional advice.
Your skin changes.
Your routine should change with it.
Thatâs Lydiaâs Methodâno hype, no miracles, just understanding your skin. đ

âNATURALâ DOESNâT AUTOMATICALLY MEAN SAFE
I love natural skincareâyou all know that.
But the word natural does not mean you can rub absolutely anything from the kitchen or garden onto your face.
Lemon juice? Too acidic and irritating.
Bicarb soda? Far too alkaline and damaging.
Undiluted essential oils? Hello, angry skin.
Toothpaste on pimples? Please leave it in the bathroom where it belongs. đ
Poison ivy is natural.
Snake venom is natural.
That doesnât mean we put them in a face mask!
Natural ingredients still need to be properly formulated, tested and used at safe levels. And yes, you can still be sensitive or allergic to them.
Your face is not a salad, a science experiment or the place to use whatever is left in the pantry.
Thatâs My Two Centsânatural can be wonderful, but professionally formulated is very different from homemade chaos. đ
