🎉 October already. Of course October 1st will forever be my favourite day, my birthday! 🎉
Which also meant a little mid-week day off yesterday and honestly, it was just beautiful.
Spent the day with my boys, and Trav and I got to feed the meerkats at Rockhampton Zoo, which was one of the coolest experiences and definitely a birthday highlight! I was then thoroughly spoiled with a massage, an incredible grazing box from a beautiful friend, convinced Tony to wash my hair 🤣 before heading out for Thai for dinner.
A perfect day spent with my favourite people, feeling very loved and very spoilt. ❤️
And now October is here with so many exciting things happening over the next few weeks!!! I have a feeling this birthday month might be a pretty special one. 😍

Wozzas, what an incredible moment in my career 🥹💕
What a highlight. I genuinely don’t think I’ve been able to sleep or wipe the smile off my face since finding out I’m an AHIA Sole Operator of the Year Finalist! MochaHair / AHIA
This week has been a little emotional when reflecting on when Leissa on Oxley started, and now to look at where this little one-chair salon is today, I’m just so incredibly proud.
It started because I wanted a career I loved while still being there for my family. But somewhere along the way, it became so much more than that.
It became a space to create beautiful hair, to listen, to laugh, to pamper, to spoil, and sometimes just give someone a little moment to stop, a moment for you, a moment to breathe.
And now this. 🥹
To have my little salon in Gracemere recognised on a national stage alongside some incredible people in our industry is something I never really imagined.
And what an incredible group of Sole Operator finalists to be standing alongside. The calibre of the people in this category and what they’ve each created is just amazing, and I feel incredibly proud to have my name there beside theirs. A huge congratulations to every one of you, what a moment for all of us. ❤️

I’M AN AHIA FINALIST!
I’m actually writing this with tears in my eyes. 🥹
A little while ago I entered the Australian Hair Industry Awards - Business. I genuinely didn’t know whether my one-chair salon, tucked away in Gracemere, would ever be noticed amongst this incredible industry. It was very much an enter, and then question myself 1000 times over moment!
Last night I found out that I am an AHIA FINALIST for Sole Operator of the Year. 😭
I have always believed that success doesn’t have to mean bigger. For me, it has been about creating something intentionally small, a space where we can slow down, where I can give each and every one of you my time, continue learning and evolving, and genuinely care about the experience I create for everyone who sits in my chair.
Twenty-five years into being a hairdresser and eight years into building Leissa on Oxley, to have that recognised at a national industry level feels incredibly special and so, so surreal!
To every one of you who has trusted me with your hair, supported my little business, embraced my crazy ideas and allowed me to keep growing, you are part of this too. 😘
I honestly didn’t think the little guy would get noticed.

And a huge congratulations to my fellow Sole Operator of the Year finalists. There’s something pretty special about seeing independent hairdressers who pour so much of themselves into their businesses being recognised on a national stage. I’m incredibly proud to be standing alongside you. ❤️

🌸 Hello Spring 🌸
Somehow we’ve blinked and September is here and Christmas, my favourite time of year is just around the corner! 🎄🎅🏼
August was filled with beautiful hair, conversations, plenty of laughs and some much-needed moments of stillness. I loved spoiling those lucky enough to secure a Serenity Scalp Ritual, and am loving adding a little bit of stillness with my Serenity Pause!
Those moments are still some of my favourite parts of what I’ve created here giving you permission to stop for a little while, be looked after and simply enjoy a moment that is entirely yours. I’ve been a little quiet on socials, but the salon certainly hasn’t been quiet behind the scenes.
If you haven’t thought about your appointments leading into Christmas yet this is your little reminder 😘
And there’s something else, I’ve been working on something NEW for the salon, something I know you’re all going to love, and something that feels very me and very much at home in this little space I’ve created. Watch this space 👀

Sometimes life gets busy, and it's easy to forget to simply be together.
Recently, Tony and I ducked away to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary, Trav coming along for the ride and to be our photographer of course 🤣
A few days away in the Adelaide and the beautiful Barossa Valley was exactly what we needed, slow mornings, breathtaking scenery, incredible food, plenty of laughs and making memories with my boys 🥰
Twenty years of marriage hasn't been about perfection, it's been about choosing each other through every season of life. I'm so grateful for everything we've built together and for being able to take the time to celebrate this milestone.
Here's to twenty wonderful years and to many more adventures still to come. ❤️
