I woke up today with a to do list, zero expectations and gratitude for being alive and having a to do list.
Then this happened ....Naturally COS Organics announced WINNER of Australia's Beauty Product of the Year.
Being filled with gratitude is an understatement.
10 years ago, our son was bathed in a popular bath wash at 6 weeks old. He suffered second degree burns as a result of toxic chemicals.
I set about creating an alternative. Designed for him and only for him. My philosophy was "if a machine can create something dangerous, my two hands have a shot". Little did I know this was the beginning of the Little Humans collection and the birth of Naturally COS.
In 2020, I was involved in a major motor vehicle crash. As a result, I suffered a brain haemorrhage, followed by a stroke with a traumatic brain injury and a formal lifelong diagnosis of Functional Neurological Disorder. This impairs every element of my brain function, motor control and life span. Neurologists advised me to ensure my chemical loading was minimal and to eliminate SLS and other toxins from my daily life as best I could to reduce and manage my headaches and migraines and often paralysis. Instead of feeling sorry for myself, I engaged the guidance of neurologists and neuro health experts to create my hair care range. I needed to reduce the chemicals I was massaging into my scalp fast.
In 2021 my daughter was born. At our 20 weeks scan we were advised she would be born with a major heart defect. Multiple holes in her heart amongst other concerns.
We were told her best chance of survival from birth was to again eliminate chemical loading and find products that would support health organ growth. In my mind there was no other option, there was no "what if I can't", I just did it.
For the first 3 years of her life, hospital was frequent. Breathing difficulties, heart concerns. It was a nightmare. So, to help her, I created our Chest Balm and Outdoor Barrier Cream (SPF)
I remember having the strangest conversation with a specialist in the cardiac ward. The specialists told me to consider a natural spf for her. I said, "I am all over it, I created one and it's working well", the specialist looked at me and said, "YOU did that".
I said "YES, I did that"
Don't ever let someone else's doubt sway you from achieving your purpose.

Let's introduce everyone π
Rebecca is our organic formulator. Rebecca hasn't always had a dedicated lab space. She started out 10 years ago in the kitchen. She has qualifications in organic chemistry, micro biology, drug development and GMP certified.
Colin is responsible for Quality Assurance, often the courier, lots of back end stuff, IT support and the engineer behind the COS lab.
Colin Jnr (CJ) is our jnr farm hand who looks after our COS garden. Especially since many of our ingredients are grown right here. He assists in the lab and helps with the filing machines. You may see a reel from time to time that CJ has also created and edited
Megan is our label assistant, sticker specialist and tells me what to write on our thank you cards
Fun fact : We can produce 200 litres at one time in our lab.

3 tips to manage it
π¦ Wash your bra often. Its catching the dead skin and sweat and acting as a rental for it.
π±Use natural deodorant. We formulate two for different needs. Roll on and spray. Scented and unscented. Ditch the aluminium and endocrine disrupters and feel fresh naturally. Keep in mind our deodorants dont stop you sweating. Its a natural body function. If you're concern with excess sweating, chat with your trusted medial professional.

Im ditching perfection today.
I filmed this 2 minutes ago and decided instead of re-filming, getting frustrated and overwhelmed...id share how my life actually is everyday.
Two things I will share, second of which is in the reel. The first is why I decided to share this particular reel.
First.
I have a TBI and im so uncoordinated. Not by choice, because my neuro connectors no longer Send the message properly to my body. AKA motor skills. I made a mess showing you all our Chamomile extract because my space awareness is non existent today. But this is my life. Messy, frustrating and...messy.
Second.
I only use organic ingredients. In this reel I start with rose water then macadamia oil followed by the culprit of chamomile and lastly organic botanicals namely blossom. Its so important for my day to day life to be removed as much as possible from chemical loading.
And also im trying to get mentally prepared for the Local Business Awards tonight so time is a sneaky factor

If you live in a cooler climate (looking at you Victoria and NSW) here is 5 very simple ways to keep your skin dewy and happy.
π©· H20. No exceptions. 2 Litres a day is a great start
π©· Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise
π©· Don't be afraid to get creative with some non comedogenic facial oils to get that instant moisture hit. Think avocado, jojoba and macadamia oils as some examples.
π©· Get yourself a lip conditioner and love it hard
