🌿 What helps when you feel overwhelmed?
Sometimes, we need a little reminder of the things that help us feel calm, grounded and supported.
Try creating your own overwhelm support collage using images and words from magazines. Think about the places, people, animals, activities and little moments that help you slow down, feel safe or find a little breathing space.
You might discover that what helps you is different from what helps someone else and that’s okay.
💛 Keep your collage somewhere you can see it as a gentle reminder of what supports you when things feel like too much.
What would you include in yours?

Sometimes, healing means accepting that things will never be quite the same.
There are people we outgrow, relationships that change, chapters that come to an end, and versions of ourselves that we can never quite return to.
And sometimes, the hardest part isn’t letting go of what was, but accepting that what we hoped for may never be.
We can miss how things used to be and still recognise that we cannot go back.
We can grieve what has changed without needing to fix it.
We can love someone and still accept that the relationship looks different now.
And we can honour who we once were while making room for who we are becoming.
Acceptance doesn’t mean we have to like what happened. It doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt. And it certainly doesn’t mean we stop caring.
Sometimes, it simply means we stop fighting with the reality of what is, and begin to find a little more peace within it.
You are allowed to grieve what was, appreciate what remains, and gently make space for what comes next.
You don’t have to have it all figured out today. One gentle step at a time is enough.
What is my job as your therapist?
To listen.
To be curious.
To support you.
To ask questions.
To gently challenge when needed.
To notice patterns.
To help you make sense of what you’re experiencing.
To help you explore your choices.
To empower you.
And, when you decide there’s something you want to work towards, to help keep you accountable.
But my job isn’t to tell you what to do.
It isn’t to fix you, fix your relationships or fix your situation.
And it certainly isn’t to judge you for the choices you’ve made.
You are the expert in your own life.
My role is to sit alongside you, help you understand yourself a little better, and create a space where you can explore what you need, what you want and where you want to go next.
Sometimes you don’t need someone to give you the answers.
You just need someone to help you find your own.

WORKING ON OUR WORRIES PROGRAM
Expressions of Interest – Term 4
We’re looking at bringing back our Working on Our Worries 4-week program in Term 4 and are currently seeking expressions of interest.
This small-group program is designed to help children better understand their worries and build practical, age-appropriate strategies they can use when worries start to feel big.
Across the four weeks, we’ll explore:
🧠 What are worries? – Understanding worry and why we all experience it.
💭 What happens in our brain when we worry? – Learning about our brain’s alarm system and why it sometimes reacts even when we are safe.
🫀 What happens in our body when we worry? – Recognising the physical signs and body clues that can tell us worry is showing up.
🧰 What can we do with our worries? – Building a toolbox of practical strategies to help children feel calmer, more confident and better able to manage their worries.
Sessions will include a mix of creative activities, games, discussion and practical strategies in a supportive and relaxed small-group environment.
📅 Proposed dates:
Wednesday 14 October
Wednesday 21 October
Wednesday 28 October
Wednesday 4 November
⏰ Time: 3:30pm – 4:45pm
📍 Hinterland House – Hope & Healing
Ages 7 - 11 years old
If you have a child who experiences worries, overthinking or anxiety and you think they may benefit from joining us, please send me a message to register your expression of interest.
Places will be limited to keep the group small and supportive. 💛

You Are the Gardener of Your Thoughts
Every reality begins
as a thought we choose to nurture.
You are not merely
a witness to your thoughts,
you are their gardener.
Whatever you give your attention to
shapes the way you see the world.
A thought repeated
becomes a lens.
A lens shapes perception.
And perception, lived long enough,
can begin to feel like truth.
Not every thought is the truth.
Some are old wounds,
fears mistaken for intuition,
ghosts dressed as certainty.
Let them come.
Let them pass.
Do not let every thought
take root within you.
Choose instead
the thought that leaves space
for mystery, compassion,
and the possibility
of what may unfold.
Because attention is a form of love,
and what you tend
shall flourish.
Give it to fear,
and the garden shall wither
and lose its colour.
Give it to wonder,
and existence shall become luminous.
Give it to the present,
and you shall see clearly
what is already blooming.
So choose wisely
what you decide to tend.
What you contemplate
changes what you notice.
What you notice
changes what you value.
What you value
changes what you choose.
And what you choose
becomes the shape of your life.
So sit with one thought.
Let silence test it.
Let time deepen it.
Let reality refine it.
And if it still holds truth,
water it.
For one day you may realize
the life you called destiny
was, in part,
the garden
your attention
chose to nurture.
