Don’t be a silly goose and risk your professional livelihood by stocking or using non-compliant products in your studio. 🫣

Don’t know how to tell if you already are?

Many artists and studios are, and don’t even realise it. 😟

Start asking your suppliers questions.
This goes for all products, not just during and post tattoo care products.

Where is it manufactured?
What standards does the facility operate under?
Can they provide batch and lot traceability?
Can they provide microbiological testing?
Safety documentation?
GMP and ISO certification where applicable?
Who is responsible for the product in Australia?
Are the ingredients compliant for their intended use?
Are the claims being made on the label and in marketing actually compliant in Australia?

And most importantly:

Can they provide evidence for their answers?

If a product is being used in your studio, particularly during a tattoo procedure or around freshly tattooed or compromised skin, you deserve to know exactly what you’re working with.

Compliance shouldn’t be something artists are expected to blindly trust just because a product is available for sale.

Ask questions. Request documentation. Keep records. Know what you’re putting on your clients.

Make sure you don’t make the mistake of lathering on a thick wax-heavy balm (most aftercare tbh) or a greasy petroleum based ointment like nappy rash Bepanthen during this critical period of tattoo healing and recovery, as it’s very easy to apply ‘too much’ and this can lead to ink drop outs and over scabbing, along with many other negative side effects that can ruin a fresh tattoos chances of looking crisp and bold once healed.
