For me, referencing beauty across print media like Vogue, historical photography, books, art, and social platforms is about building a broader visual vocabulary for the brand. Each medium offers a different perspective on beauty, from the cultural and historical context of an image, to the immediacy and diversity of what we see represented today.

As a creative director, I’m interested in looking beyond what is currently trending and understanding how beauty has been interpreted, challenged, and celebrated across different eras and cultures. That wider reference pool helps us avoid creating a narrow or overly familiar definition of beauty.

Because our brand direction is about finding the unique beauty in everyone, I want our visual language to reflect that same openness: beauty that feels individual, unexpected, human, and not confined to one aesthetic or moment in time. Social media is one part of that conversation, but so are books, fashion archives, photography, art, history, and editorial culture. The combination is what allows us to build a more considered and distinctive point of view 🩷

1. Classics done to perfection are not boring. They’re chic.

2. Dirty hair is NEVER better to with. We can add grit, texture and hold to clean hair.

3. Humidity and wind doesn’t care that you wanted a blow-dry.

4. More hairspray can be the opposite of what your hair needs to hold.

5. Your outfit directly affects how impactful your hairstyle looks.

6.A great hairstylist can tailor the garment, but you still provide the fabric. Healthy hair, a great cut and fresh dimensional colour is the difference between average and incredible.

⚡️ACO Beauty Breakdown: Ebony ⚡️

The Vision

Ebony wanted to step away from a traditional bridal look and embrace a modern mermaid aesthetic inspired by Kaia Gerber’s Met Gala beauty - soft, effortless, ethereal and a little editorial.

The Hair

The hair was always going to be the hero. During her preview, we refined the look and chose two full sets of hair extensions in different tones to create extra length, fullness and natural dimension.

With a seaside wedding ahead, we focused on creating hydrated, glossy curls that would hold their shape without becoming fluffy in the coastal air.

The Second Look

For the dance floor, Ebony transformed the curls into a textured braid, finished with seashell clips to complete the mermaid-inspired vision.

The Makeup

To let the hair shine, we kept the makeup soft and luminous with neutral cool pastel tones, a silvery shimmer across the eyes, glowing skin and delicate definition.

The Result

Every detail was thoughtfully chosen to bring Ebony’s vision to life, from the dimensional extensions to the silvery makeup and reception hair transformation. A modern mermaid moment, made just for her.
