A little reminder, from my little room here in Cobbitty, that you don't have to hold it all today.

Every ad you have ever seen for your own face began the same way. By finding something wrong with it.

I know, because I used to write them.

Find the pore. The line. The dullness. Name it clearly enough that she sees it too, in a mirror she was fine with an hour ago.

Then sell the fix as though it were comfort.

I was good at it. Which is its own kind of uncomfortable to admit.

Here is the part nobody says out loud. A solved problem stops paying.

So the model gets built to never quite finish. There is always a next area, a next protocol, something you had not noticed until somebody pointed at it.

That is not a conspiracy.

Nobody is rubbing their hands. It is simply what a business does when its income depends on a problem staying open.

I would rather you came less often and left with something that holds. It is a worse business model and I know exactly what it costs me.
