👣 DID YOU KNOW? – What Does a Podiatrist Do?👣

Our feet carry us through life, from long days at work to exercise, sport and everyday activities. But did you know a podiatrist does much more than just look after your toenails?

Podiatrists specialise in the health of your feet, ankles and lower limbs, helping assess, manage and prevent a wide range of foot and lower limb concerns.

A podiatrist may help with:
Heel pain and arch discomfort
Foot and ankle pain
Ingrown toenails, corns and calluses
Sports-related foot injuries
Foot health associated with diabetes
Walking, movement and footwear concerns

Meet Bernard Pienaar – Your Local Podiatrist EP

Bernard is passionate about keeping the Eyre Peninsula community moving comfortably. Through Your Local Podiatrist EP, he provides professional podiatry care, with a focus on helping people manage foot and ankle discomfort and maintain healthy movement.

Bernard visits Cleve Massage and Wellness Collective, making podiatry care more accessible to our local community.

Don't ignore those sore feet! If foot discomfort is affecting your everyday life, it may be time to seek professional advice.

Contact the Your Local Podiatrist EP to enquire about Bernard's next visiting date or to book an appointment.

Healthy movement starts from the ground up!

Over the weekend Tina and Annie were away in Adelaide learning some pretty cool joint therapeutic techniques with Advanced Clinical Education and we can’t wait to bring what we learnt back into the clinic. Think spine, neck, shoulder, scapula, elbows, hips, knees, ankles and feet!

DID YOU KNOW? – What does a Physiotherapist do?

When you think of physiotherapy, you might think of injury recovery — but physiotherapy can be about much more than that!

Physiotherapists are trained to assess movement, function and physical wellbeing, helping people recover from injury, manage pain and stiffness, improve mobility and work towards getting back to the activities they enjoy.

Physiotherapy may involve:
Exercise and rehabilitation
Strength and mobility work
Hands-on treatment
Injury management
Movement and posture advice
Strategies to help prevent future injury

Whether you're recovering from an injury, dealing with ongoing aches and pains, or wanting to improve your movement and function, a physiotherapist can work with you to develop a treatment plan suited to your individual needs.

Meet Josh Penny – our visiting Physiotherapist

Josh is a physiotherapist with JLP Physiotherapy.

Josh will visit Cleve Massage and Wellness Collective Monday fortnightly from the 12th October.

💥Client Question of the Week💥

Why does my therapist work somewhere that doesn't hurt?

Have you ever had a sore shoulder, only for your therapist to start working somewhere that doesn't actually hurt?

There's a reason!

Pain isn't always coming directly from the spot where you feel it. Muscles and other tissues work together, and tension or restriction in one area can sometimes contribute to discomfort somewhere else.

For example:

Sore shoulder? Your therapist may also look at your neck, upper back or chest.

Uncomfortable knee? They may assess and work around the thigh, hip or lower leg.

Headache? Your neck, shoulders and upper back may also be part of the picture.

This doesn't mean your therapist is ignoring the area that hurts. Instead, they're looking at the bigger picture and considering how different areas of your body work together.

That's why your consultation matters too!
Telling your therapist where you feel discomfort, what movements aggravate it and what you've noticed about your symptoms can help them tailor your treatment.

And if you're ever wondering “Why are you working there?” — ask!
We’re always happy to explain what we're doing and why.

Massage isn't always about chasing the spot that hurts. Sometimes it's about looking at what might be contributing to it.

Have a question you'd like us to answer?
Pop it in the comments or ask us at your next appointment. It might be our next Client Question of the Week!
