If it wasn’t for my daughter wanting to sleep on my lap as a baby, I probably never would have discovered natural hair care. That one simple moment sparked a journey that led me to the Curly Girl Method, curlies needing help then to Natural Eclipse in 2018 , and eventually to Curly Cuts in 2021..

Over the years, I’ve changed direction many times.

Running a small business over the past the past 6years in particular certainly hasn’t been easy. There have been challenges, setbacks, difficult decisions and moments where I questioned everything. As a business owner you have too. But every twist, every change and every leap of faith has led me exactly where I was meant to be.

Today, I’m in my happy place—behind the chair, sharing the specialised curly cutting skills and knowledge I’ve spent years learning, refining and continuing to develop.

Curly Cuts is more than a salon. Between specialised curly cutting, curl education, retail, refills and running Australia’s trusted online curly shop since 2018. As a fully qualified hairdresser for over 35 years , I’ve intentionally chosen to dedicate my limited appointment time exclusively to specialised curly cutting.

My specialised cutting service is suitable for most curly hair, including most wavy curl types. It isn’t suitable for almost straight hair, straight hair or short wavy hairstyles, as these generally require different cutting techniques.

🫧 No-Poo Cleansing Tips. 🖤 Save this reel for your next wash day.

Cleansing is often overlooked as unimportant, but it’s actually the most important step of your wash day routine. It’s also one of the very first things I teach and educate about in my curly cuts classes. When done correctly, it’s the first step to helping control frizz and improving moisture retention.

✨ My top tips:

• If your hair is thick or very dense, section it so you can really get to the scalp.
• Use enough No-Poo Cleanser for your hair density.
• Add water as you cleanse to help disperse the cleanser and create an emulsion.
• Massage the scalp thoroughly to lift away dirt, oils and build-up.
• Always cleanse twice with a No-Poo Cleanser.
• First cleanse – removes dirt, oil and build-up.
• Second cleanse – properly cleanses the scalp.

🖤 For curly and tight textured hair, a well-performed cleanse is the foundation of healthy curls. Get this step right, and you’re giving your curls the best chance to retain moisture, reduce frizz and achieve better definition.

At Curly Cuts, appointments with me Leeanne! are dedicated exclusively to our specialised curly cutting service, using the advanced curly cutting skills and techniques I have spent years learning, refining and continuing to develop through ongoing education.

While I’m a fully qualified hairdresser, I have intentionally chosen to dedicate my limited cutting appointments solely to this specialised method.

This service is suitable for most curly hair, including many wavy curl types. However, it is not suitable for almost straight hair or straight hair, as these hair types generally require different cutting techniques that fall outside the specialised services offered at Curly Cuts.

Because our curly cutting appointments are limited, we reserve them exclusively for the specialised curly cutting service we have invested years in developing. This approach requires a different level of expertise, appointment structure and time allocation than general haircutting.

We believe in being completely transparent about the services we offer so you can determine whether Curly Cuts is the right fit for you before booking.
