You may have already seen this on IG but after a LOT of tears and soul searching, I've made the really difficult decision to officially close Neety Does Nails 🥹

I've spent 30+ years on and off in the beauty industry, and nails have basically become my whole personality 💅 I've built this little business through so many chapters of my life, and met so many wonderful people along the way.

But the business just isn't sustainable for me anymore. Between rent, running costs, and all the pressures of running a business, I've realised I'd need to take on more clients and work more hours to make it work financially. I simply don't have the capacity for that anymore. I've been burnt out for a long time, and I've finally had to accept that stepping away is the right thing for me. I need some balance. I need to be able to clock off.

I'm also really excited about what comes next. I've accepted a casual role with a lovely creative company, and I'm looking forward to doing repetitive work, making cute things, using my hands, then going home without carrying an entire business around with me.

It's happened very suddenly and my final week at Brunswick/Shivers is this week. I'm sorry I won't get to say goodbye to some of you in person ❤️

But the thing I'm going to miss most isn't actually the nails....It's you.

Over the years, you've shared your lives with me. We've laughed, cried, had deep conversations and completely unhinged ones.
I always wanted my studio to be a little third space. Somewhere you could switch off, have a cuppa, chat s**t (or not), be yourself and forget about everything else for a couple of hours. Looking back, I think I actually created that.

To everyone who has ever sat at my table, trusted me with your hands or supported my little business...thank you for the laughs, stories, chaos, friendship and for letting me be part of your lives. I'm going to miss this little world we've created. And thank you Brunswick...I've loved being part of this neighbourhood and will always have a soft spot for this community ❤️

This isn't goodbye to nails though. I'm keeping this account open for my own nail creations, press-ons and whatever other creative things I get up to.

This week I’ve had 3 regular clients cancel their recurring appointments. That’s around approx $600 a month in income disappearing from my little business. And as a small, one-woman business, that actually matters.

I love what I do, I love my clients, and I really want to keep doing this. But I’m not sure how much longer the business can sustain itself if I keep losing regular clients and I’m not replacing them.
