Sharon taking us through vascular treatments using the Fotona Dynamis for rosacea, facial redness and visible spider veins.

With vascular laser treatments, it’s not simply about firing the laser at a visible vessel. Correct assessment and treatment technique are essential.

Sharon demonstrates how we select the appropriate spot size and treatment parameters, perform a test patch first, assess the tissue response, and then carefully progress with treatment.

Every patient and every vascular lesion is different, which is why we assess and test before treating the full area.

Careful assessment. Test patch. Observe the response. Then treat.

Proud to be a Newcastle Knights supporter.

I’ve supported the Knights since I was about six years old, right back when they entered the competition in 1988.

Tonight reminded me exactly why.

Watching this team fight through a finals game a player down and simply refuse to give up was incredible. The effort, courage and heart they showed right until the end is everything I love about this club.

Results come and go. There are great seasons and tough ones. But when you see a group of players dig that deep for Newcastle and for each other, you can’t ask for much more.

I’ve been a Knights supporter nearly my whole life and always will be.

Win or lose, you’ve got my heart.

So proud of the boys and so proud to support the Newcastle Knights. ❤️💙

Laser downtime isn’t the same for every treatment.

Sharon is already looking pretty much healed at day 3 or 4 after her Venus Viva radiofrequency ablative treatment.

Meanwhile, after a deeper fractional Fotona Dynamis treatment, I’m still very much in the healing stage. Puffiness, peeling and all the glamorous bits that come with it.

Different treatments mean different levels of downtime, and deeper treatments can take longer to fully settle.

One important reminder while your skin is healing: leave it alone. No fake lashes, hair dye, facials or other beauty and cosmetic treatments until the skin has completely healed. We generally recommend waiting at least two weeks before introducing those treatments again.

Sharon wins this round.

A little tattoo removal chat with Bart and Sharon.

Bart has been removing a black tattoo on his arm and has had around five sessions over six years. We have definitely been pretty lazy with the timing, but it is a great example of gradual fading.

Sharon has had two sessions removing her eyebrow tattooing, which contains both orange and black pigments. Different pigment colours require different laser wavelengths and settings, which is why every tattoo needs to be assessed individually.

We use the Fotona StarWalker, with topical numbing cream and cooling to keep treatment as comfortable as possible.

Results and the number of sessions vary depending on the colour and depth of the ink, the area of the body and the individual tattoo.

If you are fading a tattoo for a cover up or planning to have your eyebrows redone, we recommend waiting around 12 weeks before having them tattooed again.

Tattoo removal with Sharon and our StarWalker laser ✨

Today it’s Bart’s turn in the chair.

This tattoo started out black and has now had around 5–6 treatments spread over roughly 6 years. We’ve definitely taken the slow road with this one, but you can see just how much the tattoo has faded over time.

An important part of laser tattoo removal is understanding that the laser doesn’t simply “erase” the tattoo. The laser targets and breaks the tattoo pigment into smaller particles, and your body gradually clears that pigment over time.

That’s also why spacing treatments appropriately matters. Clearance continues between sessions, and tattoo removal is generally a gradual process rather than an overnight result.

Every tattoo is different. The number of treatments required can vary depending on factors such as the colour and type of ink, depth and density of pigment, location of the tattoo, skin type, previous treatments and how the individual responds.

Before any laser tattoo removal treatment at Newcastle Cosmetic Doctor, we start with a consultation. This allows us to assess the tattoo and skin, discuss expectations and treatment planning, and make sure you’re appropriately prepared before commencing laser treatment.

Bart’s is getting pretty close now. After years of taking his sweet time between appointments, we might finally get rid of it. 😂

Light Fractional Laser + Vascular Treatment | Fotona Dynamis

Patients in their 40s can be fantastic candidates for a lighter fractional laser treatment, particularly when the goal is skin rejuvenation without an aggressive treatment approach.

For this patient, Sharon is combining a light fractional Fotona treatment to target skin texture, tone and signs of photodamage, together with Nd:YAG vascular treatment to address visible redness and vascular concerns.

The aim is not to change the face. It’s to improve the quality, clarity and overall appearance of the skin using treatments tailored to the individual.

✨ Fractional skin rejuvenation
✨ Improved texture and tone
✨ Targeted vascular treatment
✨ Treatment intensity tailored to the patient

Performed using the Fotona Dynamis laser platform at Newcastle Cosmetic Doctors.

Individual results and downtime vary. A consultation is required to determine suitability.

Laser for Facial Redness ✨

Redness on the face can have many causes, including visible or broken capillaries, diffuse vascular redness, rosacea and inflammation.

In this treatment, Sharon is having Fotona Frac3 with the Fotona Dynamis, performed by Dr Bart.

Frac3 uses Nd:YAG laser energy delivered into the skin to target appropriate vascular and skin concerns. For suitable patients, treatment can help reduce the appearance of redness and visible vessels while supporting improvements in overall skin quality, tone and vitality.

In the video, Sharon talks about the redness across her cheek and why we’re treating this particular area.

Every patient’s redness is different, so assessment is important to determine the underlying cause and whether laser treatment is appropriate.

A candid look at Bart’s face immediately after today’s Fotona laser treatments.

We began with Nd:YAG FRAC3®, a three dimensional fractional treatment designed to target areas of skin imperfection and stimulate the skin’s natural rejuvenation response.

Around the mouth and lips, we performed a customised LipLase® treatment. Fotona’s Er:YAG SMOOTH® mode delivers controlled heat into the tissue to stimulate collagen remodelling, helping the lips appear naturally fuller and smoother while softening the lines around the mouth.

We then completed a light Er:YAG laser peel over the area to resurface photodamaged skin and improve its texture.

The redness shown is the expected immediate response following treatment and will gradually settle.

No filler was used. The aim is gradual, natural improvement through collagen stimulation and skin resurfacing.

Every treatment is tailored to the individual. Suitability, recovery and results vary.

Bart tries Fotona LipLase® for the first time!

Today, Sharon is treating Dr Bart’s lips using the Fotona SP Dynamis.

We begin with Fotona SMOOTH® mode, stacking four controlled pulses of heat at each treatment point across three passes. This is followed by the brushing technique, where the handpiece is moved carefully across the lips to distribute the laser energy evenly.

The controlled heating stimulates collagen remodelling and new collagen production. This can gradually help the lips appear smoother, naturally fuller and more defined without injecting filler.

Sharon then finishes with a light Er:YAG laser skin peel to refresh the surface of the lips and help improve rough texture and fine lines.

Bart’s lips are quite numb from the numbing cream, so it is definitely a new experience for him, but we are having some fun along the way!

Results continue to develop gradually over the following weeks. A complete course is usually recommended, with results commonly lasting around 6 to 12 months. Individual results and longevity will vary, and maintenance treatments may be recommended.
