Water week is officially wrapped💧
Rather than asking whether you hit the “perfect” amount every day, take a minute today to think about what actually helped- and what got in the way.
The goal isn’t perfection. It’s finding small habits you can repeat.
And we’re not quite finished talking water! Our blog drops this Wednesday, exploring water and weight loss: how much you actually need and what hydration has to do with weight management👀
And next up? Fibre week. We’ll be sharing practical ways to increase fibre, simple food ideas and a few things to keep in mind when you’re increasing your intake.
Save what worked from water week and bring it with you into the next one🤍

I own Downscale Weight Loss Clinic and this was my view this beautiful Queensland afternoon - with a Balter in hand….
I did take my dog for a walk this morning and eat plenty of protein today, does that count?

Anyone else emotionally attached to their water bottle but barely drinking from it?😅
Instead of relying on remembering, pair a drink with something you already do- breakfast, lunch or a break from your desk.
Today’s little reset: bring your bottle into view and actually use it💧
Your fluid needs are individual, so follow the goal discussed with your practitioner.

Australian health businesses. Are you AI ready?
Use it. Cut the admin, fill your books, run a leaner practice.
Benefit from it. Prepare now for the red tape that's coming, and stay compliant when it lands.
Understand how your patients use it. They're diagnosing themselves with AI, and Google now answers with AI recommendations instead of a list of websites. If AI doesn't know you, patients won't find you.
Protect against it where you need to. Scope of practice, quality of care, Ahpra, TGA and privacy.

Choosing a weight-management clinic is an important decision- and you’re allowed to ask questions before deciding who you trust with your care.
Who will actually be looking after you?
What does follow-up care look like?
Are there ongoing fees or commitments?
Does the clinic look beyond the number on the scales?
At Downscale, we think these questions matter.
Our team is made up of experienced healthcare professionals who believe weight management deserves thoughtful, individual and evidence-informed care- with real conversations and a genuine understanding that no two people are the same.
Real clinicians. Real conversations. Quality care.
New patient appointments are available now.

Water was the biggest struggle in our recent poll, so we’re giving it a whole week💧
I use a one-litre bottle because it makes my goal easier to picture. The trick for me is having it filled and somewhere I’ll actually see it- not discovering at 4 pm that I’ve barely touched it.
Each day this week, we’ll share one practical idea for a different water struggle. Tell us yours in the comments so we can make these posts useful to you.
Your fluid needs are individual. Follow the target recommended by your practitioner and your care plan, including any fluid restriction. Our 3-litre examples apply only if that’s your agreed goal.
Has looking after yourself become another thing you feel you’re failing at? 🤍
This week’s Sunday Reset is a little reminder to get curious with yourself. When something doesn’t go to plan, ask: “What got in the way, and what could I change?”
You can work towards feeling better without being so hard on yourself along the way.

When someone is trying to lose weight, it’s understandable that most of the attention goes to one thing:
the number going down.
But there’s another question worth asking:
What are we trying to keep?
During weight loss, some lean tissue can be lost alongside body fat. That’s why preserving muscle deserves a place in the conversation.
Adequate protein matters.
Resistance exercise matters.
And this becomes increasingly important as we get older, when maintaining muscle supports strength, mobility, physical function and healthy ageing.
Weight management shouldn’t simply be a race to make the number on the scales smaller.
We want to think about body composition, strength and long-term health too.
Because successful weight management isn’t only about what you lose.
It’s also about what you protect.

PMOS and weight management are connected — but the story is more complicated than “PMOS causes weight gain.”
The change from PCOS to Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS) better reflects what this condition actually involves: interacting endocrine, metabolic and ovarian features.
For many women with PMOS, insulin resistance and compensatory hyperinsulinaemia are part of that picture, and PMOS is associated with increased risks of metabolic conditions including dysglycaemia, type 2 diabetes, dyslipidaemia and hypertension.
That doesn’t mean every woman with PMOS will experience weight in the same way — or that PMOS makes weight loss impossible.
It does mean that telling someone with PMOS to simply “eat less and move more” can miss an important part of what’s happening.
Weight-management care should consider the condition you’re living with, your metabolic health, your symptoms, your lifestyle and your individual goals.
Because PMOS isn’t just an ovarian condition — and managing it shouldn’t be reduced to a number on the scales.
