She then went on to win the Avant Garde category of another national competition called “Métamorphose”. Kaitlyn continued to work in some of France's most prestigious hair salons becoming a master cutter and colourist. She was able to cultivate her creative love for colouring and styling by working in collaboration with Wella in France as one of their digital ambassadors. Kaitlyn then went on to continually deepen her knowledge and skills by training and working alongside people such as Raphael Perrier, Silvia Salerno, Ludovic Geheniaux, Ivan Arniaud and Sophia Hilton. One of the highlights of her hairstyling journey so far came when she completed Vidal Sassoon’s “International Masters”course in London with their international creative director Mark Hayes. Kaitlyn’s area of expertise is in freehand French balayage. She loves this technique because it gives her the opportunity to create a unique look for each client. Now located in a heritage Queenslander built in the1880s at the junction between Newstead, Teneriffe and New Farm in Brisbane, she has created a French inspired space, where she can share some French style and flair with her clients.

FREEHAND BALAYAGE ✨

The secret to beautiful balayage isn’t simply how light you can make the hair — it’s where you choose to place the light.

With freehand balayage, each section is painted individually, allowing us to control the depth, brightness and softness of the result.

Unlike a traditional foiling technique, the placement can follow the natural movement of the hair, creating a more seamless transition between light and dark.

The result? Dimension that looks naturally illuminated rather than obviously coloured.

And this is where experience really matters — knowing where to leave depth is just as important as knowing where to create brightness.

Because beautiful balayage isn’t about making everything lighter.
It’s about creating the right balance of light and depth for you.

BRUNETTE HAIR COLOUR IDEAS

How do you make a brunette summer-ready without losing the richness and depth that makes brunette hair so beautiful?

It’s all in the placement.

Creating a lighter brunette isn’t simply about adding more light. It’s about understanding where to introduce brightness, where to preserve depth, and how to balance the tone for a beautifully dimensional result.

Staying brunette while going beautifully light is absolutely possible. The right balance of light, depth and tone creates a colour that feels fresh, luminous and effortlessly luxurious.

At Kaitlyn Wagner Hairdressing, our bespoke brunette balayage is designed around your natural depth, your desired lightness and the long-term health of your hair.

A summer-ready brunette, without compromising the richness of your colour.

Haircut. Thick hair doesn’t need to be thinned into submission — it needs to be thoughtfully shaped. ✨

The art of cutting dense hair is knowing where to keep weight, where to create movement, and where to remove it.

I begin with a strong, clean perimeter before introducing soft layers through point cutting. For the face framing, I carefully follow the natural hairline to maintain continuity and avoid creating gaps or unintentionally emphasising areas where the hairline sits further back.

Once the shape is established, I work through the hair dry, selectively removing excess volume and creating texture with my texturising scissors.

The result? Movement without losing the integrity of the shape, beautiful texture, and a softer grow-out that continues to evolve with the hair.

Because the best haircut isn’t one-size-fits-all — it’s designed around you, your hair and the way it naturally moves.

Hand-Painted Balayage 🤎 Can you Balayage Short Hair? Yes — balayage can be just as beautiful on short hair. 🤎

The secret is placement, proportion and depth.

With less length to work with, every piece of light has more impact. Knowing where to hand-paint brightness — and, importantly, where to leave natural depth — creates dimension without overwhelming the shape of the haircut.

Beautiful balayage isn’t about how long your hair is. It’s about knowing exactly where the light should live.

Grey Blending Grey blending isn’t about going grey. It’s about changing the way we colour grey hair. 🤍

We can’t stop your hair from growing — but we can work with that growth rather than constantly fighting against it.

Instead of relying on opaque permanent colour that can create a strong regrowth line, grey blending uses softer, more translucent colour to gently veil the grey while maintaining natural dimension.

The result? Beautiful, polished colour now, with a softer transition as your natural grey reappears — giving you greater longevity between salon visits without committing to becoming fully grey.

Intelligent colour designed to evolve with your hair.

Brunette Hair Colour. 🤎 Brunette doesn’t have to mean one-dimensional.

Adding dimension to brunette hair isn’t about making it blonde — it’s about creating contrast.

By keeping plenty of natural depth and strategically introducing softer chocolate, mocha, caramel and toffee tones, we can create movement and light without losing that beautiful brunette identity.

The key is knowing where to lighten, how much to lift and where to leave depth.

Too much light and your brunette starts reading as blonde. The right balance creates richness, shine and dimension while keeping the overall result beautifully brunette.

Because the goal isn’t always a lighter brunette.

It’s a more interesting brunette. 🤎

Hair Extensions Invisible & Damage Free. 🌟 Great Lengths keratin bond extensions are my favourite way to create beautiful, natural-looking length and volume while keeping the hair healthy.

Every extension is applied strand by strand using a keratin bond that closely mimics the natural protein found in your own hair. The result is lightweight, comfortable, and virtually undetectable.

The application itself is only part of the process. I carefully map out every section, considering the client’s natural density, movement, and how they wear their hair every day. This ensures the extensions are perfectly balanced and completely hidden, even when the hair is worn up.

Once every bond is in place, it’s time for my favourite part—the haircut. This is where the transformation really happens. I customise the cut to blend the extensions seamlessly with the client’s own hair, removing any heavy lines and creating soft movement and shape.

No two extension transformations are ever the same. Every cut is tailored to the individual, because extensions should never look like extensions—they should simply look like your own beautiful hair.

The finished result is longer, fuller, healthier-looking hair with incredible movement and a completely natural finish. That’s the beauty of Great Lengths keratin bond extensions. 🌟

Brunette Balayage, French Style ✨ 3 Must-Do Rules for a Beautiful Brunette Balayage✨
1. Sectioning
Think about your placement and your angle. Ask yourself: Where do I want to see light, and where do I want to keep depth? Great balayage starts with intentional sectioning.
2. Blending
I use a bristle brush along with my fingers to soften and blend the lightener. This creates a seamless transition with no harsh lines, giving that lived-in, natural finish.
3. Saturation
Apply more product where you want more lift. Proper saturation is what gives you consistent lift, brighter ribbons of light, and a beautifully dimensional result.

The Curly French Bob ✨The secret to a beautiful curly French bob isn’t removing more hair—it’s creating space for each curl to live naturally.

I begin by cutting the hair wet to establish a strong, even bob shape. Then, using a star-shaped sectioning pattern, I create layers that support the curl pattern without disrupting it.

One of the most important techniques I use is gap cutting into the curls. This prevents the curls from stacking on top of each other and creating that unwanted triangular shape that so many curly-haired clients struggle with.

A soft face frame is added with my feather razor for movement and softness around the face, before diffusing and refining every detail on dry hair.

The final result? A French bob that feels effortless, balanced, and tailored to the natural beauty of the curl.

Curly hair should never be forced into a shape—it should be guided into one.

Grey Hair Transitioning

✨ No-Bleach Grey Transitioning ✨

Not everyone can, or wants to, bleach their hair—and that’s perfectly okay. No-bleach grey transitioning is a beautiful alternative that works exceptionally well on darker hair colours.

While it’s not the traditional method, it creates a seamless blend between your natural colour and grey, all while preserving the health and integrity of your hair. The result? A soft, natural-looking transition that is elegant, low-maintenance, and uniquely yours.

Healthy hair. Beautiful dimension. Graceful grey. 🤍
