A little behind-the-scenes confession…

I recorded this video three times.

Deleted all three.

I was trying to remember everything I wanted to say, trying to sound composed, trying not to fumble my words and suddenly something I know and talk about quite naturally became much harder to say to a camera.

And yes… I’m wearing my glasses. 😂
But I wasn’t reading from a script.

This is actually the first time I’ve really put myself on camera to talk about the things I’ve spent years learning and experiencing through my work with skin.

So I’m posting it.

Not because it’s perfect.

But because I think there’s something important in reminding ourselves, especially as therapists - that we don’t need to know everything perfectly before we share what we genuinely know and continue to learn.

Our education, our experience, our curiosity and the questions we keep asking all become part of how we grow.

So this is me, starting.

A significant day in history.
And a significant day in my own.

On 15 August 2012, I opened the door to my own business for the first time.

Today, 14 years later, I’m still learning, still questioning, still refining, and now building something that has been learned over the years, my skin science series.

Different chapter.
Same door I chose to open. 🦚

Some dates mark where you came from. Some remind you why you kept going.

I’m rolling out something new 🦚something I’m genuinely passionate about.

Self-education.

Continuously learning, questioning, observing and understanding skin biology and how different skins respond differently.

Because the more we understand skin, the better we can work with it, not against it.

I’m bringing some of that learning into my new Skin Science Series, sharing the knowledge, science and thinking that continues to shape the way I work.

Learning never stops. Neither does understanding skin.

MORE RED ≠ BETTER RESULTS ?
Microneedling works by creating controlled, purposeful micro-injuries that initiate a wound-healing response.

But more visible redness does not equal a better biological response.

Erythema is influenced by treatment depth, pressure, passes, skin sensitivity, vascular response and individual skin condition. Excessive tissue trauma can increase inflammation without necessarily improving the intended treatment outcome.

The skill and scope of the practice is knowing how much stimulation is appropriate for the skin, the treatment objective and the day of treatment.
