Your brain is changing every day.
The question is: are you training the patterns you actually want to keep?
Your balance. Your movement. Your breathing. The way you respond under pressure.
Your brain can strengthen and reorganise connections based on what you repeatedly practise.
That’s neuroplasticity.
Every time you repeat a movement, focus your attention or respond differently to stress, you’re giving your nervous system another opportunity to learn.
But one class won’t magically rewire your brain.
Attention + challenge + consistency matter.
I’ve watched students wobble through the same balance pose for weeks, then suddenly one day, it holds.
That’s not luck.
Their nervous system has been practising.
With repetition, movement becomes smoother. Balance improves. What once demanded concentration starts to feel natural.
That’s neuroplasticity in action.
You’re not stuck with every pattern you have today.
Your brain is always learning.
Make sure you’re teaching it something worth keeping.

Not all pain means the same thing.
Some discomfort is part of your body adapting. Other pain is telling you something needs attention.
The problem is most people don’t know how to tell the difference.
Muscle burn, an intense stretch or soreness after doing something new can be normal.
Sharp, sudden, worsening or persistent pain is different, especially when it changes the way you move.
But pain isn’t a perfect measure of damage either. Stress, fear, poor sleep and previous injuries can all influence what you feel.
So don’t just ask, “Does it hurt?”
Ask:
Is it controlled?
Is it getting better or worse?
Does it settle when I stop?
Can I move normally afterwards?
The goal isn’t to avoid every uncomfortable sensation. It’s knowing which sensations you can work with and which ones deserve respect.
Pain that is sharp, worsening, persistent or changing how you move deserves attention from a qualified healthcare professional, not just a modification in class.

Your balance can decline long before you realise it’s happening.
You notice when you lose strength. You notice when you get less flexible.
But there’s another physical ability you can lose gradually without even knowing it.
It’s called proprioception — your body’s ability to know where it is in space without having to look.
It’s what lets you walk in the dark, step off a curb or catch yourself when you suddenly lose your balance.
When that system becomes less accurate, you hesitate on stairs, uneven ground feels less predictable and you stop trusting certain movements.
And that’s where the real problem starts.
When you trust your body less, you move less.
Move less and you can start losing strength, balance and coordination, creating a cycle that can eventually affect your independence.
But this isn’t inevitable.
Proprioception can be trained.
Balance work. Single leg movements. Slow transitions. Changing your visual focus.
I’ve seen students in their sixties shocked by how difficult a simple single leg exercise feels.
Not necessarily because they’re weak.
Their balance simply hasn’t been challenged for years.
Train it consistently and the wobble starts to disappear.
That’s why balance and off balance movements are deliberately built into every class at Raw Power Yoga.
Ageing well isn’t only about staying strong and flexible.
It’s about trusting your body when the ground, the movement or the moment suddenly changes.

Most people have never been taught how to use their diaphragm properly.
It takes tens of thousands of breaths every day, yet almost nobody ever trains it.
Most people think it only helps you breathe.
It does much more than that.
Your diaphragm works with your abdominal muscles, pelvic floor and deep spinal muscles to help create stability from the inside.
When your breathing mechanics aren’t working well, the effects often show up somewhere else.
• Tight neck and shoulders
• A core that never feels fully engaged
• Lower back tension
• Breathing into your chest instead of through your ribs
The goal isn’t to take bigger breaths.
The goal is to move your diaphragm better.
One of the first things I do with new students is place my hands on their lower ribs and ask them to breathe normally.
Most people feel almost no movement.
Then they experience their ribs expanding sideways for the first time.
Almost every person says the same thing.
“I had no idea my body was supposed to do that.”
That’s why breath mechanics are part of every class at Raw Power Yoga.
Because better breathing isn’t just about feeling calmer.
It’s about moving better, creating better stability, reducing unnecessary tension and helping your body work the way it was designed to.
Comment DIAPHRAGM and I’ll send you the rib expansion drill I use to help people feel it working for the first time.

High blood pressure affects millions of people.
One of the simplest evidence based tools to help support healthy blood pressure is something you already do every minute of every day.
Your breathing.
Slow, paced breathing has been shown to support the body’s natural blood pressure regulation and reduce activity in the fight or flight nervous system.
We call it Slow. Light. Deep.
Start here:
🫁 Inhale through your nose for 3 seconds
🫁 Exhale slowly through your nose for 5 seconds
If that feels challenging, shorten the breath slightly. The goal is smooth, relaxed breathing, not forcing it.
As this becomes comfortable, gradually build to:
🫁 4 seconds in
🫁 6 seconds out
Slow. Light. Deep.
Slow your breathing.
Light means gentle, quiet and effortless.
Deep does not mean taking a bigger breath. It means allowing your diaphragm to do the work while your breathing stays soft and relaxed.
Practise for 5 minutes a day.
The goal is not simply to breathe like this during the exercise. The goal is to train this as your natural breathing pattern throughout the day.
Like any skill, breathing can be trained.
Comment “BREATHE” and I will send you the exact five minute breathing session to follow along with.

The most important thing yoga trains isn’t flexibility.
It’s how you respond to stress.
The most valuable thing you take home from a yoga class may not be stronger muscles. It may be a calmer nervous system.
Every time you breathe through challenge instead of fighting it, you reinforce a different response to pressure.
I’ve had students tell me they found themselves breathing calmly through a stressful moment at work without even thinking about it. They didn’t decide to do it. It had simply become their default.
One class won’t change your nervous system. Repetition will.
At Raw Power Yoga, every class includes slow, extended exhale breathing to help activate the vagus nerve and make that calmer response easier to access when life becomes demanding.
Flexibility helps you move through class.
Regulation helps you move through life.
Comment “RESET” and I’ll send you the exact breathing pattern we use.

THE WORKSHOP THAT SOLD OUT IS BACK.
Arm Balancing 2.0 is here.
After an incredible response to his first workshop, Dustin is back with an all new session featuring new arm balances, new progressions and fresh techniques to help you unlock skills you never thought possible.
The biggest myth?
You need to be stronger.
You need to be more flexible.
You need years of experience.
You don’t.
You need someone who knows how to teach these skills in a way that actually makes sense. That’s what Dustin is known for.
A former professional surfer, 3rd Degree Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt, Apple TV yoga teacher, and one of Australia’s leading movement educators, Dustin has helped hundreds of students achieve arm balances and inversions they once thought were impossible.
Whether you’re attempting your very first crow pose or refining advanced hand balances, you’ll leave knowing exactly what to work on next.
Beginners to advanced. Everyone is welcome.

Your body doesn’t start by screaming. It starts by whispering.
Most people don’t notice the whisper.
They notice the headache. The tight shoulders. The clenched jaw. The exhaustion.
But those weren’t the first signs.
Your body had been sending signals for hours, days, sometimes weeks. You just weren’t taught how to notice them.
That’s called somatic awareness—the ability to recognise what your body is telling you before tension becomes pain and stress becomes overwhelm.
I’ve had students realise, after just one slow breath, that their shoulders had been up around their ears the entire class. Nothing changed.
Their awareness did.
That’s why every class at Raw Power Yoga starts with the breath.
The earlier you hear the whisper, the less often your body has to scream.

YOU’VE NEVER BEEN TAUGHT HOW TO BREATHE PROPERLY.
Your diaphragm works every second of every day.
Yet almost nobody has ever been taught how to train it.
Most people think it’s just a breathing muscle.
It isn’t.
Your diaphragm works with your deep core, pelvic floor, and spine to create stability from the inside out.
When it doesn’t move well, the symptoms often show up somewhere else.
A tight neck.
An aching lower back.
A core that never feels fully engaged.
Try this.
Place your hands around the sides of your lower ribs and take a slow breath in.
Did your ribs expand sideways?
Or did your chest just lift?
The first time my students feel their ribs expand, they all say the same thing.
“I had no idea my body could do that.”
At Raw Power Yoga, breathing mechanics aren’t an afterthought. They’re built into every class.
