After more than 25 years in cosmetic medicine, there are a few things Dr Ingrid Tall would tell the doctor she was at the beginning of her career.
Not about a particular technique or treatment — but about the lessons that only come from years of assessing faces, treating patients and watching trends come and go.
In Episode 4 of Face Value, Dr Tall shares three things she would tell her younger self as a cosmetic doctor.
Because experience doesn’t just change how you treat. It changes how you see the face, how you approach a consultation, and sometimes, when you decide that less is more.

Spring is here — and for many of us, our skin is still showing the effects of summer.
Pigmentation, uneven tone, changes in texture, congestion and dullness can become more noticeable over time. But the right approach isn’t simply choosing a treatment from a menu.
For this client, Tarni assessed the skin and customised a Jessner Peel based on her individual concerns and how her skin responded during treatment.
The images show her skin before treatment and one day later — still within the recovery process, rather than a final result.
After more than two decades of treating Brisbane skin, one thing remains the same: the best time to start looking after your skin is when you notice it changing.
Not sure what your skin needs?
Tarni is currently offering complimentary skin analysis appointments at Cosmetic Image Clinics.

Will treating TMJ make jowling more noticeable?
It’s a question we hear regularly — and the answer comes down to more than the jaw alone.
When people refer to treating “TMJ”, they’re often talking about the masseter: a large chewing muscle that also contributes to the shape and volume of the lower face.
Changes in masseter bulk can change the support and proportions of the lower face. If there is already skin laxity, reduced elasticity or changes in facial volume and structure, existing jowling may become more noticeable.
This is why assessment matters.
Rather than looking at one muscle in isolation, our clinical team considers masseter size, skin quality, existing laxity, facial volume and jawline structure — at rest and in movement.
The question isn’t simply what can be treated. It’s how a change in one area could affect the face as a whole.
Save this for your next consultation and follow CIC for more evidence-informed facial anatomy education.

The lower face is often one of the first areas to change—but one of the last areas people notice.
As we age, changes to the jawline, chin, lower cheeks and skin quality can gradually influence the way the entire face appears.
These subtle shifts may affect facial balance, definition and the way light reflects across the face, often contributing to a more tired or heavier appearance.
Because these changes happen gradually, they’re easy to overlook—yet they can have a significant impact on overall facial harmony.
Understanding why these changes occur is the first step.
During a consultation, our experienced team assesses your facial anatomy, movement and skin quality as a whole to develop an individualised treatment plan where appropriate.
Save this post for future reference, and if you’ve started noticing changes in your lower face, book a consultation with our team to receive a comprehensive facial assessment.
Your smile does more than express emotion—it provides valuable clinical information.
A smile dynamics assessment allows our practitioners to evaluate how the muscles of the face work together in motion, not just at rest. From muscle activity and facial balance to the way different areas interact as you smile, these observations help build a more complete understanding of your facial anatomy.
It’s one of the many reasons every consultation at Cosmetic Image Clinics starts with a thorough assessment before any treatment recommendations are made.
Curious about what your smile dynamics may tell us? Book a consultation with our experienced team to receive a personalised facial assessment and discuss your goals.

Not every skin concern needs the same solution.
Dryness, congestion, pigmentation, dullness and the visible signs of ageing can all look similar at first—but the right treatment depends on what’s happening beneath the surface.
That’s why every skin journey at Cosmetic Image Clinics starts with understanding your skin, not guessing.
Whether your goal is a brighter complexion, smoother texture or healthier-looking skin, our experienced team will recommend a personalised treatment plan tailored to your concerns.
Not sure where to start? Book a complimentary skin consultation and let us help you find the treatment that’s right for your skin.

Every month is an opportunity to learn, grow and continue improving the care we provide to our patients.
This July, our team:
• Attended Aesthetics 2026 in Sydney, with Nurse Stacey representing Cosmetic Image Clinics.
• Travelled to Perth, where Dr Ingrid Tall and Brianna provided consultations and treatments over the weekend.
• Undertook three days of advanced clinical training as part of our ongoing commitment to professional development.
• Welcomed Nurse Tash back to the clinic two days a week.
• And, on a lighter note, discovered that Dr Tall’s suit collection may deserve a monthly feature of its own.
Thank you to our patients, colleagues and referring practitioners for another rewarding month.
We look forward to sharing what August has in store.

Wrinkles aren’t caused by one thing — they’re the result of six factors working together, some within your control, some not.
Understanding why your skin changes over time is the first step to making informed decisions about your skin — whether that’s your daily habits or a conversation with a professional about what’s actually driving your concerns.
