How many fingers do you have left? ✋🏼
These are things I hear about in clinic all the time, some more serious than others.*
Thinking about my own life, I’d put 4 fingers down too.
Gut symptoms can be really hard to talk about. I get it, I’ve been there. But they can be serious, there’s often a reason behind them, and there’s a lot we can do. The big takeaway: what you’re feeling is valid, and there’s usually a path forward that’s right for you.
If this resonates, don’t hesitate to reach out. Let’s get you on track to feeling empowered about your health.
*If you notice blood in your stool, let your doctor know as soon as possible 💩

A huge thank you to Dr Dalgleish for capturing these photos at the Nerva dinner, where Michael and I joined the Nerva team to speak on the intersection of gut health, eating disorders, perimenopause and disorders of gut-brain interaction (DGBI) 🧠
It was such a valuable evening, educating GPs, consultants and allied health professionals on the role nutrition and lifestyle factors play in shaping someone’s long-term health trajectory ✨
Every person’s journey looks different, and there are so many individual factors to weigh up along the way. That’s exactly why individualised, evidence-based care matters so much when it comes to supporting someone’s nutrition. 💛
Grateful for collaborations like this that keep the conversation between allied health, GPs and specialists moving forward 🙏🏼

Here’s the thing about toilet troubles. They rarely have one simple cause 😳
I see so many women who’ve tried every piece of advice a friend, a podcast or an influencer has thrown at them, and they’re still stuck.
Not because they didn’t try hard enough. Because a lot of that advice was never actually about their gut.
The truth is your gut is influenced by hormones, stress, sleep, bacteria and yes, food, all at once. Which is exactly why guessing rarely works and why a proper look at what’s actually going on does 🩵
Save this for the next time someone tells you to “just cut out gluten” or “just try a detox.” And if you’ve been putting up with this for longer than you’d like to admit, send this to a friend who needs to hear it too 🧡

Halfway through this trip and it’s very hard to pick favourites! 🌍
Soaking up the view in Monaco, working through a fruit platter, and making friends with every dog that’ll let me (there were many) 🐶
Then celebrated at my partner’s friends’ wedding in Germany. Such a gorgeous day to be part of! 🧡
And ate some of the best Tunisian food of my life in Marseille. I’m still thinking about it 😍
Just landed in Lake Como for round two of the trip, and I’d love some help! If you’ve got a favourite restaurant here, please let me know ☺️
I’m noticing that the language around food and bodies is starting to shift again, and not for the better. CaL0r!e c0uNt!nG is creeping back in.
Here’s the thing. When we’re fixated on the calories of what we’re eating, we miss out on so much.
The chance to actually practice mindful eating. To listen to what our bodies are telling us. To create memories with the people we love over a meal. To try something new and delicious just because we want to!!!
And honestly, calorie counting was never that helpful a practice to begin with. The numbers are rarely accurate, and how a food actually breaks down and gets used in your body comes down to something far more complex called the food matrix, not a figure on a label.
So instead of counting calories, this year I’m counting cards by the pool, Aperol overlooking the riviera, hikes up stone paths, and grazing boards with my mates 🧀
What are you counting this year? ☺️

Before I was a dietitian, I was diagnosed with IBS. The advice I got from my gastroenterologist at the time was to go gluten-free.
No mention of seeing a dietitian 😳
So I did it. And it didn’t help, because gluten was never the root issue.
It wasn’t until I looked at the basics, like eating regularly and getting enough fibre, that things actually started to shift.
Gut health isn’t always about removing things. Sometimes it’s the fundamentals that get missed.
If this sounds familiar, book a consult and let’s find what’s actually driving your symptoms.

GLP-1 is actually a gut hormone, your body already makes. These medications just turn the volume up, at a dose your gut would never make on its own.
That’s exactly why appetite and digestion change so much, and why undereating on one is such a common, under-discussed risk.
Full breakdown in today’s post ➡️ What I see in clinic, why protein and gut health need to be the priority, and what’s actually at stake long-term (bone health, muscle, your relationship with food) IF nutrition isn’t part of the plan!!
Send this to someone you know who’s on one. It’s the conversation I wish more people were having before appetite disappears completely 🙏🏼
