πΈ Itβs the 1st of the Month β Time for Your Breast Check! πΈ
The best person to notice a change in your breasts is you.
Take just a few minutes today to get to know what feels normal for your body. Check for any new lumps, swelling, skin changes, ni**le changes, or anything that simply doesnβt feel right.
Remember, not every breast cancer starts as a lump. Knowing your own body means youβre more likely to notice subtle changes early.
π Check.
π Feel.
π Know your normal.
Your health is worth a few minutes each month.

πΈ My Skincare Routine
Everyoneβs skin is different, but this routine has helped me.
π Morning β StrataXRT
This was recommended by my radiation team to be applied twice a day. I personally chose to use it each morning. It needs to be applied at least 2 hours before treatment, and I found it created a protective silicone layer over my skin.
π€ During the day β MooGoo Natural Fast Hydrating Lotion
As the day went on, my skin became drier and tighter. MooGoo absorbed beautifully without leaving my skin feeling greasy, so it was easy to reapply throughout the day whenever I needed extra hydration.
πΏ Chelsey Jean Facebiotics
Chelsey Jean Lymphatics
Although itβs marketed as a face product, I found it incredibly soothing on my treated breast. The cooling peppermint gave a refreshing sensation, especially when my skin felt warm, and I even found the peppermint aroma helped settle my nausea. It became one of those unexpected little comforts during treatment.
π Night β Aquaphor Healing Ointment
Before bed I applied a generous layer of Aquaphor. Because itβs much thicker, it helped lock in moisture overnight and was wonderfully soothing when my skin became warmer and more sensitive.
Remember your skin reaction doesnβt necessarily stop when radiation finishes. In fact, the redness, warmth and irritation can continue to develop and often peak around 1β2 weeks after your final treatment. Thatβs because radiation is still affecting the skin and the underlying tissues as your body begins the repair process.
Radiation doesnβt only affect the surface of the skin. It can also temporarily affect the connective tissue (fascia), tiny blood vessels and lymphatic vessels, which is why many people experience: Warmth
Redness
Tightness
Swelling
Tenderness
Reduced flexibility through the breast and chest wall
For me, continuing my skincare routine even after treatment finished has become just as important as what I did during treatment.

πͺ THURSDAY = UPPER BODY STRENGTH πͺ
Strong doesnβt have to mean extreme.
Building upper body strength helps support posture, mobility, balance, circulation, and everyday function β from lifting groceries to supporting healthy ageing. πΏ
Todayβs 5-4-3-2-1 workout focuses on:
β¨ Arms
β¨ Chest
β¨ Shoulders
β¨ Core stability
Push-ups, tricep dips, shoulder taps, and arm movements all help activate muscles while also encouraging healthy blood and lymphatic flow.
And letβs be honestβ¦ those arm circles start feeling serious after about 12 seconds π
π
Remember:
β Start where you are
β Modify when needed
β Rest when needed
β Progress takes consistency, not perfection
Movement is one of the greatest gifts we can give the body β especially when we combine it with good nutrition, hydration, sleep, and nervous system support.
Youβre stronger than you think.

At The Breast Wellness Studio and The Healthy Living Naturopath, our goal is to support women through education, awareness, and proactive wellness approaches alongside appropriate medical care and screening.
24/05/2026
Many women are familiar with mammograms as part of routine breast screening, but fewer women realise there are several different imaging tools available β each looking at the breast in a completely different way.
Understanding the differences matters because no single test gives the full picture.
πππππππππ
Mammograms use low-dose X-ray imaging to look for structural changes within the breast, such as masses or calcifications.
They can be an important screening tool after diagnosis, but they have limitations:
β’ Reduced sensitivity in dense breast tissue
β’ False positives that may lead to additional testing
β’ Exposure to low-dose ionising radiation
β’ They assess structure only β not function or physiology
A mammogram may identify that βsomethingβ is present, but further imaging is needed to better understand what that finding means.
ππππππππππ
Ultrasound uses soundwave technology to create images of breast tissue.
It is commonly used:
β’ To assess lumps or areas of concern
β’ To distinguish between fluid-filled cysts and solid masses
β’ Alongside mammograms in women with dense breast tissue
Ultrasound involves:
β No radiation
β No compression
β Real-time imaging
However, ultrasound is generally targeted imaging rather than a full physiological overview of breast health.
ππππππππππππ
Thermography is different because it looks at physiology and vascular patterns rather than structure alone.
Using infrared thermal imaging technology, thermography measures heat and blood flow patterns on the surface of the body. These patterns may reflect:
β’ Inflammation
β’ Vascular activity
β’ Hormonal influence
β’ Lymphatic congestion
β’ Areas requiring monitoring over time
Thermography:
β Is non-invasive
β Uses no radiation
β Has no compression
β Is contact-free
β Can be suitable for women with dense breasts, implants, tenderness, or younger breast tissue
One of the greatest strengths of thermography is that it allows for comparison over time. Rather than focusing only on whether a lump is present, it looks for changes in thermal and vascular patterns that may indicate tissue stress or altered physiology.
At our studio, thermography is used as part of a broader breast wellness approach β encouraging women to become proactive, body-aware, and engaged in their long-term breast health journey.
Importantly:
Thermography does not diagnose cancer and is not a replacement for recommended imaging.
It is a screening tool designed to provide additional information and consistent and safe monitoring, while giving women the best opportunity for monitoring their health.
ππππππ πππ
MRI provides highly detailed imaging and is often used for:
β’ Higher-risk women
β’ BRCA mutation carriers
β’ Complex or unclear findings
β’ Further investigation after other imaging
MRI is very sensitive, but it can also produce false positives and often requires contrast dye.
πππππ-ππππ ππππππ ππππππππ
At The Breast Wellness Studio, we believe breast health is about more than waiting for a lump to appear.
Itβs about:
β¨ Understanding your body
β¨ Monitoring changes over time
β¨ Supporting lymphatic flow
β¨ Hormonal balance
β¨ Nervous system regulation
β¨ Reducing inflammation
β¨ Empowered, informed healthcare choices
Every woman deserves access to education, supportive conversations, and screening options that suit her individual needs.
Always discuss breast screening decisions with your healthcare provider.
