Breathe to Bloom
I’m Courtney Wootton, a twin mum and survivor of domestic violence, raising three beautiful, medically complex kids.
Breathwork saved me when nothing else could. Now I guide others home to themselves—as a Breathwork Facilitator and Wellness Coach

Opportunities do not always knock loudly.
Sometimes they whisper. Sometimes they turn up on the busiest day, right in the middle of the mess, looking like something small.
For years I walked straight past them. I had my head down, getting through the next appointment, the next load of washing, the next hard day.
But when you open your eyes to them, they come flowing in.
The world doesn't change. You do. You start to notice the conversation that turns into a connection, the idea you almost brushed off, and the door that was open the whole time.
So this is your sign today, lovely. Lift your eyes. You might be surprised by what has been waiting for you.

I learnt to survive long before I knew what survival meant.
Growing up, I spent so much of my life questioning my worth, feeling like I wasn’t good enough and searching for love and acceptance.
I learnt to stay quiet, hide my emotions and put everyone else’s needs before my own.
Those patterns followed me into adulthood, and eventually, I found myself in a relationship where I was surviving all over again.
At 20 weeks pregnant, I fled domestic violence, terrified of what my future would look like.
I became a single mum to a medically complex little girl, carrying trauma I hadn’t even begun to process.
For years, I was simply surviving.
But somewhere along the way, I realised I didn’t want to spend the rest of my life just surviving.
I’m still healing, still finding my voice and still learning that I am worthy of everything I once believed I didn’t deserve.
And that little girl who never felt good enough?
She’s finally becoming the woman she always needed!! 🌻🤍🙌

Rage Release - Breathe to Bloom description

Your past does NOT define your future. 🤍
Two years ago, I married the man who showed me what safe, unconditional love truly feels like.
As a woman who fled domestic violence while pregnant, I once questioned whether I’d ever experience the love I deserved.
Today, I’m celebrating two years of marriage with a man who loves me for exactly who I am and who chose to love my daughter as his own.
I’m sharing this because I want every woman who’s been through hell to know…
Your story doesn’t have to end where your trauma began.
You are worthy of love. You are worthy of happiness. And you deserve to feel safe.
Your happily ever after IS possible. Sometimes it just looks different from the one you originally imagined.
Here’s to healing, breaking cycles and finding a love that feels like home. 🌻

When was the last time you gave yourself 10–15 minutes with absolutely no interruptions?
No phone.
No kids calling your name.
No work.
No rushing to the next thing.
No doing something for somebody else.
Just you.
We spend so much of our lives pouring into everyone around us that sometimes we forget what it feels like to simply sit with ourselves.
To breathe.
To notice what’s coming up.
To feel instead of push it down.
To ask ourselves, “What do I actually need right now?”
You don’t need an hour-long morning routine to reconnect with yourself.
Start with 10 minutes.
Make a coffee. Sit outside. Put your phone away. Breathe deeply. Journal. Cry if you need to. Sit in silence if that’s what your body is asking for.
You deserve to take up space in your own life too. 🌻

What if the parts of yourself you judge the most aren’t actually the problem?
Shadow work is about becoming curious about the parts of ourselves we’ve learned to hide, suppress or label as “bad.”
The overthinking.
The need for control.
The people pleasing.
The perfectionism.
The big emotions.
The guilt when you rest.
The part of you that always feels like you should be doing more.
Our shadow isn’t necessarily something we need to get rid of. Often, these patterns developed because at some point, they helped us feel safe, accepted or prepared.
And underneath them, there can be strengths.
My overthinking can also be my ability to notice the little things.
My need to plan can become leadership and preparation.
My sensitivity means I care deeply.
My high standards can fuel incredible growth.
My difficult experiences can become purpose.
Shadow work isn’t about fixing yourself. It’s about understanding yourself.
Instead of asking, “Why am I like this?” try asking:
“What is this part of me trying to protect and what does it need from me now?”
Sometimes the parts we try hardest to hide are the exact parts waiting to be understood. 🤍

Last week, we got news we’ve fought so hard for.
Both of our girls were offered places in a specialised preschool program.
A classroom of just six children.
Our girls will be two of them.
I should have felt nothing but relief.
Instead, my mind went straight to:
Why our girls?
Do they really need it enough?
Do they deserve those places?
That’s the part of medical parenting people don’t always see.
You fight so hard for your children to be seen… and when they finally are, you question whether their struggles are “enough”.
But they were observed.
Their therapists advocated for them.
Their needs were seen.
They deserve this support.
And I’m trying to let myself hold two truths:
I am so grateful they have this opportunity.
And I wish they never needed it in the first place. 🤍
Our family has been shaped by hospital rooms, sleepless nights, scary diagnoses and moments we never thought we’d have the strength to face. We’ve watched our girls fight battles no child should have to fight, and somehow, through every admission, every setback and every unknown, we’ve kept going. Our story isn’t an easy one, but it is ours, built on fierce love, incredible strength, and a family that refuses to stop fighting together. ❤️
