I decided to pull out my liquid highlighters today and review what I had. Surprisingly only 5. I thought I’d rank them and have a chat about them.

#5 Fenty. Won’t repurchase. I actually love Fenty, but found this formula hard to work with over foundation. Fine when rubbing in directly onto skin, but feel it needs to be worked quiet a bit. Fairly glittery which I don’t mind, but not for everything. Will run this out in decleotages and shoulders.

#4 Dior. Won’t repurchase. I love the shade, don’t love the formula. Didn’t wow me enough and know there’s better formulas out there.

#3 ICONIC. It’s good, I like to keep this in my kit, have had it on and off over the years. Good to mix into bases and moisturisers. Use on high points under bases.

#2 MECCA MAX. Discontinued. I loved these formulas, I had all the shades. Only a tiny bit of Opal left. Would love some feedback on the new ones if anyone has tried??

#1 Rare Beauty. Selena Gomez Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez won me over. The formula glides on over makeup. I use brush or fingers and gently tap or wipe on. A little goes a long way. I love the size of the minis for my kit. Impressive colour range and my go to liquid highlighter. Will continue to restock and add shades ❤️✨

While I was recently down in the archives, I thought it would be fun to have a look at my year in makeup school in 2014.

I had no idea what or where I was going during or after makeup school. I never considered myself an artist.

People ask me all the time if I can paint, the answer is no, despite having a grandmother who was a brilliant artist. I’ve tried various things, I did ceramics for a while in my late teens, I embarked on a millinery journey about 7 or so years ago (incomplete) and now have a cupboard full of fabric and feathers as a reminder. I remember in my mid 20’s talking about designing bikinis……. There’s been jewellery making and glass painting, I even applied for creative writing at uni. I always wanted to create but the truth is, I was always just a little bit s**t at it 🤣.

Oh to add onto this, a semester at CCP photography (still enjoy photography, but usually only like shooting makeup)! 😉⚡️❤️

When you are in it, especially early on, you don’t realise that every job and every brief is shaping and growing you. Every mistake, every triumph, every dissatifaction, every drive home in tears, every fixation thinking I could have done that better. Literally days I’ve felt like I can never do this again. But you dust yourself off and come back again, become resilient and strong. Come back with better understanding and skill. Come back with better communication and compromise. Come back eager to continue learning and backing yourself. ❤️
