BUILT
A lady stopped me in Woolworths to say she was happy to see cellulite on an athletic build.
Actually thought it was a really cool topic, and felt really connected after the conversation. Little bit of sadness behind it too that she would have been carrying these feelings with her. She was also a mum (which actually saddened me even more) because her body has done COOL S**T. Carried and birthed an entire human, yet she’s here in a Woolworths admiring ME for simply wearing shorts, when she should be getting the praise. All about perspective isn’t it.
Anyways, cellulite. It’s simply to do with the structure of our connective tissue. No cream is going to remove it.
Women: the strands run straight up + down, so fat pushes up between them, so dimples.
Men: the strands cross over + the skin is thicker, so the fat stays held in, so no dimples.
Just our structure, and while yes fat loss can make the appearance less obvious, most women still have it, even very lean women or athletes.
Most sources will tell you up to 90% of women have it.
Live your life and wear what you want, there’s real issues to worry about x
If anyone says otherwise, they’re simply uneducated on the human body.

Yeah I gym, but reduce me to my body and you’ve missed almost everything about who I actually am.
You only see this version of me, where it looks like I have it all figured out. My flops and past versions did the work though.
You don’t see the version who left a stable career everyone told her not to leave. The one with 30k debt from a neuroscience degree she never used. The version whose body turned on her and gave her an autoimmune disease. The version who got cheated on while in hospital, hit rock bottom and couldn’t leave the house with agoraphobia and panic attacks, who rebuilt more than once with no one watching. Who didn’t post on social media.
The versions I’ve hid away from embarrassment of them being “failures”, including past business ventures of my own I’ve never shared.
Nobody shows you their rock bottom while they’re in it. You only ever see people after.
If you feel stuck, or you’re in a version of yourself right now that you’re not proud of right now- that version ISN’T separate from who you’ll become. It’s the version that will build you, and hell it will be the strongest version of you.
My favourite phrase is “fall forward”. The goal isn’t to never fail or fall, but it’s to keep trying.
