Bamboo is not a tree, but grass, and a relative of wheat and rice.
Bamboo is a versatile vegetable (if you can call it that way). It can be eaten raw, added to soups and curries. The edible part of bamboo is the young runtails that have not yet been able to cut off, only recently emerged from underground. No plant in the world is used as widely as bamboo. The natural range of bamboo is found in the tropics, mainly in the regions of Asia and Madagascar, as well as partly in the tropical Africa.
