Did you know that abortion is legal in Zambia but only if continuation of pregnancy would (according to the termination act): (i) risk to the life of the pregnant woman (ii) risk to the physical or mental health of the pregnant woman (iii) risk injury to the physical or mental health of any existing children of the pregnant woman and (iv) if the child were born it would suffer physical or mental abnormalities.
In 2015, Zambia moved to a pro-choice approach when it passed the gender equity and equality Act to allow women to make decisions and choices over fertility, family planning and termination. However, this is not a stand-alone provision, the termination act and penal code still come into play.

As a young Zambian lady, I find these laws very oppressive. Women carry pregnancy and it's their bodies and lives that change drastically as a result. It is only logical to allow a woman to make the decision to proceed or to end the pregnancy 🤰.

Every day we hear of cases of teens risking their lives to end pregnancy using life threatening means and the root cause is these young women are not supported. Medical and surgical abortion are safe ways of ending a pregnancy and here we remain committed to helping women who need extra support due to financial constraints. We know the emotional confusion that comes with ending a pregnancy and we are here to walk with you every step of the way, moving from isolation to freedom.
Do not hesitate to send us an e-mail (e-mail on top of the page) for any abortion related concerns. We are here to help.

There are several reasons why people end a pregnancy and all of them are valid. 💜🩷
