Anyone local want to be a demo body on 10/17 from 9-1? I may need a back-up person for a Zoom.
🚨NERVVY ZOOM WORKSHOP ATTENDEES🚨
The first pre-training email will be going out Friday. Keep an eye out for it.
I don't actively market my Functional Neurology practice anymore.
When I posted frequently and wrote blogs about the work, my practice was often booked out 3-4 months with no wiggle room.
Honestly, it was suffocating.
"I understand that you're in a lot of pain and none of the trad methods are helping, but I can't see you until 14 weeks from now."
And if they didn't follow instructions and immediately book their 3-4 follow ups? Another 12-14 weeks.
Terrible.
I stopped. And things slowed down.
Now it's mostly by referral. And the occasional 'found you on Google'. Which is terrifying. Like... do you know what you're in for?
I post when something sparks. I share when inspired. And I'm posting now, because I'm sensing the shift. You'll be seeing less of me here with the manual therapy side. But I'm still seeing clients in person. The schedule is still active.
Have an amazing week.
A bunch of people are shuffling sessions around so there is plenty of space over the next couple of weeks for you.
I've been reflecting on burnout after this last weekend.
Yes, there's truth to the perspective in that a great deal of it stems from our own survival strategies.
BUT. In this profession the unrealistic expectations of others cannot be discounted in the further destruction that is burnout.
And when a Practitioner meets or exceeds those unrealistic expectations the fallout is even greater whenever not met.
The pressure to fix, perform, and to be the answer to the problem is not the fault of the Practitioner alone.
Progress is Progress no matter how slow.
Backslides happen.
Life be lifing.
Better IS Better.
Personal responsibility is a thing.
Somatic Psychology Nuggies
This Module was deeply focused on the relationship between the Practitioner and the Client and where we can get stuck. It was honestly freeing. I'll set those aside for now.
1. Trying to change state by imposing shifts (breathing, movement, relaxation exercises) is outside goal-oriented and can override protective mechanisms. And not in a good way.
2. A new perspective on burnout- Running from ourselves. To avoid confronting our own survival styles and often to avoid feeling helpless- we overdo, over give, over everything.
3. Behaviors are symptoms of disorganization, not the problem. And beneath the behavior is a desire for State change.*
4. 'Transcendent State' is often simply Dissociation. There was an entire section diving into spirituality and growth. Leaning too far into either side (science or soul) leaves a gaping hole in the process.
This weekend was just SO GOOD and I'm excited to go deeper.
*The behavior piece very much reminded me of coming to the understanding that most issues with Cranial Nerves and Primitive Reflexes are often symptoms or the result of the problem, and not the problem itself.
Female Coaches I see on IG? Leading from 'signs and designs'.
Not it. Not my style and not the type of person I want to attract.
The more I'm honing this vision the more I see how different I am. And that's not a bad thing.
Two things.
1. Next weekend I will be in Module 2 of the Somatic Psychology class. Do you want me to share more nuggies?
2. After a few weeks of a crazy schedule, next week finally opens back up. If you've been wanting in now is the time.
NOTICE. Lots of talk happening.
Yes, my office building is for sale.
No, I have no plans to look for another space at this time.
I have no idea what is going on with the sale. It could take a long time to sell. It could take days. The people buying it could want to keep it all as is. Or they could plan a hostile takeover. Remains to be seen and I'll worry about it when I need to worry about it.
Until then, there are no changes happening for you or our work together.
Me: Hmmm I'm struggling between two niches for coaching*.
Also Me: Wait. Who says you can't combine both into something fantastically potent?!?!
Inside Me: Nobody you would listen to anyway.
The MEs have spoken. 😆
*Coaching is loosely applied to appease the state. Mentorship sounds better. Better check with the MEs.
