And sometimes the best thing you can give an artist isn’t another technique. It’s an experience they’ll never forget.

Twenty years later and Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette is still responsible for a significant percentage of my personality.

Found the most charming little medieval town outside of Paris. 🇫🇷🌹

Cobblestone streets, ancient stone buildings, a gorgeous Gothic cathedral, tiny cafés, and winding little streets that look like they belong in a fairytale.

Give me an old French town with centuries of history and pretty things around every corner and I’m happy.

There’s something quietly expensive about makeup that doesn’t look like it’s trying too hard.
Understated doesn’t mean unfinished. It means every choice matters.

I don’t want a minimalist Halloween. I want my house to look like a Victorian widow inherited money under suspicious circumstances.

I loved Dolly so much that last year I hosted an entire Dolly Parton-themed makeup artist retreat in Nashville with a group of my makeup besties. We stayed at a Dolly-themed house, celebrated her incredible style and career, created art inspired by her, and basically lived in our own rhinestone-covered Dolly universe for a few days. 💕✨

At the time it was pure joy.

Today, those memories feel even more precious. I don’t think there will ever be another human quite like Dolly Parton.

Of course I loved the rhinestones, the big hair, the glamour, the music and that wicked sense of humor. But what made me love Dolly so deeply was the human being underneath all of it.

She showed the world that you could be unapologetically feminine, wildly successful, smart as hell, glamorous beyond reason—and still make kindness your greatest legacy.

She didn’t just become successful and build herself a bigger life.

She used her success to make other people’s lives bigger.

There are celebrities. There are icons. And then there are people whose existence genuinely leaves humanity better than they found it.

Dolly did that.

Imagine if we measured every billionaire and celebrity not by what they accumulated, but by how many lives became better because they were here.

By THAT standard, Dolly Parton was one of the richest people who ever lived.

Thank you for the music.
Thank you for the laughter.
Thank you for the glamour.
Thank you for the books.
Thank you for the generosity.
Thank you for showing us what you can do with a life when you lead with love.

The world feels a little less sparkly without you in it. 💔✨
