If you saw the playlist of the month reel, you’ll know that I have a dragon theme! 🐉 And the scents I picked out reflect that.

I’ve been starting out with the most subtle of the three? my own Barb’s Blend I’m calling “Quell.” As in quelling the dragon. Subduing the activated part of ourselves leaping towards every threat. Quell is a blend of ‘Iliahi (Hawaiian sandalwood, from a sustainable family farm), Roman Chamomile, and Benzoin. It’s the benzoin that’s the surprising note here because the overall blend is warm, woodsy yet sweet and herbal but the benzoin adds a bit of earthy spice to the mix.

Roman Chamomile is the single note and it is sweet and reminiscent of apples or pears. It’s juicy yet refreshing and instantly calming. Perfect for taking it down a notch.

Dragonfruit is the Pure Fiji selection, which is bold and juicy. It smells exactly like the Starbucks refreshers. Tropical, bold and joyful. What is fun about this one is during the dry down it changes and becomes a bit more green.

‘OLĒ - STORIES

Little late on our full moon draw, but as this one included a partial lunar eclipse as well, maybe a delayed message with the chance to marinate is welcome. This card draws our attention to stories.

There are stories that were told. About why things are the way they are. About how to act and how to walk through life. About how to make sense of everything.

Then there are the stories we tell ourselves. Who we are. Who we can be and what we can do. Why we are the way we are.

Stories can be powerful tools to remember things and shape our lives. It is important that we look at all aspects of the story and who is telling it and why in order to give the stories their importance, but also to deny them their effect.

When this card pops up, it’s asking us to look at what stories are floating through our lives at the moment. It tells us to pay attention. Whether that be to the story itself, the storyteller or why it’s being told. Look for the truth and the power within the words.

It’s also a soft suggestion to look at your own stories. What are you creating and how are you using your words. This doesn’t always mean to look through illusion. It can mean to understand what stories you may possess that could help yourself or others in this moment. Use it as a tool.

Totally slipped my mind to post about this month’s scents! 🤦🏻‍♀️ But for anyone who is fascinated by these picks, you can always request them when you come in.

I’ve been changing it up by introducing my single note essential oil first — Clary Sage. It’s earthy and green like fresh cut grass or plants, but it has an unexpected fruitiness to it as well. This one is such a chameleon when it comes into contact with the skin too.

Fairy Work is the name of the blend I made this month. It’s bright and yet grounding with notes of neroli, grapefruit, sage and turmeric. It reminded me of dawn and sun rays gently shining on drops of dew. And dew always reminds me of fairies. That’s where my imagination goes! It’s kind of light and effortless but still has the density of earth in it.

The tropical scent this month is Mango 🥭. It’s juicy and delicious and reminds me of mango sticky rice or a mango custard. Joyful, fun and sweet.

As always you can’t go wrong! And some of the combos people have been picking have been really working!
