Things you need at the farmer’s market that nobody tells you about 👀🛍️✨

After doing our first market with YGM Creations, we quickly realized there are a few things you definitely want to have figured out BEFORE market day. 😂

⛺ A tent — For outdoor markets, this is typically a requirement, so make sure you have one ready to go! And don’t forget to check the market’s size and setup requirements before buying yours.

✨ A proper display — Plan this ahead of time! Many markets want to see what your booth setup will look like before approving your application, so having a display you’re proud of matters.

🎀 A banner — Another thing you’ll want to have ready ahead of time! Your banner makes it clear who you are and helps your booth stand out.

🧊 And of course… THE COOLER. 😂
Cold water, drinks, snacks…TRUST US. After hours of setting up, standing, selling, and talking to customers, you’ll be very happy you brought it.

Lesson #2 from our first Farmers’ Market: Listen to your customers. 👂🏽🩷

One of the most valuable parts of being at the market wasn’t just selling our candles. It was getting to actually talk to you.

We heard everything from, “OMG, this smells amazing!” 😍 to “Wait…how do you warm a candle without a wick?” 😂🕯️

And we loved EVERY question.

Those conversations helped us realize what we’re explaining well and, more importantly, what we could be explaining better.

As a small business, your questions and feedback are so valuable because they help us understand what you want to know, what you’re curious about, and what we should be sharing more of.

One thing our first Farmers’ Market taught us? Sometimes your customers need to experience your product in person. 🩷✨

When you run an online business, you spend so much time trying to show people what makes your product special through a screen. But fragrance is an experience. 🌸🥭🌲

At the Farmers’ Market, people could actually smell our candles, see them up close, and ask the question we heard A LOT:

“Wait…what’s a wickless candle?” 😂

And we loved it!

It gave us the opportunity to explain why we created them, how they work, and what makes the experience different.

Our biggest takeaway for other small business owners: think about how you can give customers a chance to truly experience your product, not just see it.

Our first Farmers’ Market taught us a lot, and we’re taking you behind the scenes for all of it. 🩷 Hopefully, we see some our community at our next one. 🥰

✨ Always use an overhead candle warmer
⏳ Avoid warming for more than 6 hours at a time
🤍 Remember, your candle and melted wax will be hot
☀️ Store your candle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
🐾 Keep your candle safely away from children and pets
