Rule 2: Cover and insert must match exactly. This is the quiet cause of most “my duvet is a mess” complaints. A cover even a few inches larger leaves empty fabric for the insert to wander into, and by Wednesday it’s balled up in a corner. Brands cut sizes differently — a “queen” cover from one company and a “queen” insert from another can be off by four inches. Buy from the same brand when you can.
And the underrated one: two adults on a queen? Get a king duvet. Full coverage for everyone, and the cover-stealing arms race is over. 🤍

Choosing a duvet insert comes down to four decisions. Everything else is preference.
01 — FILL TYPE
Down is the classic: light, lofty, warm without weight. It's also pricier, allergy-riskier and fussier to wash. Modern down alternative has closed most of the feel gap while staying hypoallergenic and machine-friendly. In a house with kids, pets or allergies, it's the honest pick.
02 — WARMTH LEVEL
All-season medium is the right default for most bedrooms — warm enough for winter with the thermostat at normal-human settings, not stifling in spring. And if you and your partner disagree (someone always runs hot), buy for the warmer sleeper. You can add a blanket to a bed far more easily than you can subtract one.
03 — CONSTRUCTION
Baffle-box sews fabric walls between the top and bottom layers, so the fill stays put and still lofts fully. Box-stitch is the simpler cousin — fine for lighter inserts. What you're avoiding is channel construction, or no compartments at all. If a spec sheet doesn't mention construction, that's your answer.
04 — SIZE
Match your mattress at minimum, and match insert to cover exactly. A size mismatch is the number one cause of slipping and sagging. Full sizing guide coming next week.
Better still: buy the insert and cover as a designed pair. Ours are built as one system, with a patent-pending attach-and-detach connection that replaces corner ties entirely — so the fit question and the migration question get answered at the factory instead of in your bedroom. It's also why ours comes apart for laundry day without the wrestling match.
