No call/ no show
This is why so many small business owners have a no-show fee or a down payment while booking. Luckily for me, I’ve only had this happen twice in my entire history of being in an LMT. Imagine going to work and your company decides to not pay you that day. 😨

Sweat and Odor
If you just went to the gym or have bad body odor/hygiene, please shower before you come in for your massage appointment. Please do not confuse Massage oil for a shower. 😂

Do You Feel That Knot
Yes, we absolutely can feel tension in the body. Pinpointing what is a knot AKA dense tissue, stuck fascia, scarred tissue, wounds, muscle holding, injury, inflammation, and anything that might require a diagnosis is tricky and not in our scope of practice. We want to be professional and validating as we know most of our clients have pain and tension. However, there are many layers of muscle and tissue to the body and deciphering something specific can put us in a weird position. Working with a regular client is much more telling as everyone has a “normal” feel to their own body, and we can feel when tensions change. I’m always happy to tell a client of the main muscles in a specific area, but please know it could always be something else and referring to a doctor or doing your own research is always helpful.

Happy Never After
Of course I’ve been asked this, and it’s uncomfortable to talk about especially while I’m giving a massage. Usually people that have asked for this type of thing ask during a massage if I’ve been asked it before trying to test the waters.
I’ll save you a test, the waters are dangerous and uncomfortable for both of us. 🚫

More Pressure
Let us cook 🙏🏻- hopefully you talked about your desired pressure during the consultation with your LMT. You can also request for deeper or lighter pressure throughout your massage depending on what feels best to you. Please allow the massage therapist to warm your tissues before expecting deep tissue or deep pressure massage.
