These are the PMU supplies that have earned a permanent spot in my setup. Not because they’re trendy. Not because I’m sponsored. But because they’ve consistently helped me create the kind of brows I want my name attached to ✨
Swipe for the products that I’ve picked up and never put down 👉🏼
The Mast Permanent Makeup Official Mast P20 has become one of my favorite machines. It’s comfortable in my hand, provides consistent results, making it reliable for every brow appointment on any client. It’s tried and true, allowing me to focus on tattooing instead of fighting with my machine.
The short 2.5mm stroke is forgiving enough for beginners, yet still performs beautifully for experienced artists.
The Mast Permanent Makeup Official Ocean Heart cartridges come in all my favorite sizes/configurations and more. The cartridge’s taper is long and thin which improves my accuracy versus using cartridges with bulky tapers. The membrane is soft which reduces vibration and lessens potential skin trauma. Needles are sharp and consistent.
And last but not least, I just love me a pretty cartridge 😍
I’ve tested a lot of pigments over the years, and I always come back to Hanafy Pigments USA Hairstrokes line because of how predictable it is.
(And yes, you can use these pigments for ombré brows too :))
These organic-hybrid pigments are premodified with warmth so it eliminates guesswork. The formula implants into the skin sooo easily, which eliminates the need for extra passes and potential skin trauma.
And they heal true even years later.
Every product in my student kit is there for a reason. When someone invests in training with me, I want them learning with the exact supplies I trust behind the chair (and most importantly, *why* we use them).
Good technique is everything - but learning, and learning *with* reliable products removes one more variable, empowering students to build confidence way faster.
Your turn 🤗 what’s one PMU product you refuse to work without?

✨ NATURAL
Believe it or not: I microbladed this client’s brows 5 years ago and literally *none* of it retained in her skin after her first session 😣
At the time, the only hairstroke-tattooing technique/method that I knew was manual/microblading. As well, I was using fully inorganic pigment. We were both disappointed that her results didn’t take, so I refunded her in full.
Last week (5 years later), she came back to give me another chance 🥰
This time, I changed my entire approach. I used the machine method/nano brows, with organic-hybrid pigment, and her skin immediately soaked up my technique and the pigment. Now we wait for the healed results - which of course I’m going to post for you guys to see.
The takeaway here is this: your technique needs to evolve as your knowledge evolves. If you’re not consistently learning, your art will show it 💯
A few things I’ve learned over the years that parallel with this client:
👉🏼 contrary to popular online BASHING, microblading does *not* automatically create scar tissue. PRESSURE does. Go to an artist who is heavy handed + a lack of knowledge, you’ll get scar tissue *regardless* of whether or not they’re microblading or nano brow-ing
👉🏼 contrary to popular TRENDING, Inorganic pigments are *not* the only option for Fitz I/II clients. Inorganic versus organic-hybrid pigments implant, and behave, differently in the skin. Don’t give in to what you see other artists recommending. Educate and physically familiarize yourself with both and make a decision on which work best with *your* technique
👉🏼 if your art doesn’t retain after one session, *do the right thing.* My policies have “non-refundable” written virtually everywhere 😅 but if I can’t deliver the results that my client’s pay for, imma make it RIGHT
Five years later, I’m grateful I know more than I did back then.
Would love to hear from other artists in the comments below. How has your approach evolved over time? What kind of knowledge/education has helped you with this? What changes made the biggest difference in your results? Chime in - newer artists are reading and can benefit from everyone’s input 🤓

When I tell a client that their brows will fade about 30–40% after their first appointment..
I mean it. 😅
🙋🏻♀️ WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN?
👉🏼 After your appointment, your brows will look darker and bolder than the healed result, which is completely normal.
👉🏼During the healing process, some of the pigment stays in the skin, while the rest naturally sheds away with the flaking skin. That’s why healed brows soften by roughly 30–40%.
🙋🏻♀️ WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
👉🏼 Around 6–8 weeks later, I recommend coming back for your perfecting session. This is where we reinforce the color, make any necessary adjustments, and build a result that lasts longer than a single session alone.
👉🏼 After that, I usually have clients send me photos around the one-year mark so I can help determine whether they’re ready for another touch-up. Every client fades differently, so I prefer making recommendations based on what I actually see, and not based off of an arbitrary timeline.
🗣️ FOR MY FELLOW ARTISTS..
👉🏼 This is exactly why communication matters just as much as the tattoo itself.
If clients aren’t told what to expect, they’ll often assume something went wrong when their brows soften during healing, even when everything is healing exactly as it should.
👉🏼 Setting realistic expectations before you ever pick up your machine builds trust, reduces unnecessary anxiety, and creates a much better experience for your clients.
🤔 FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Being a great PMU artist isn’t just about creating beautiful brows - it’s also about becoming an exceptional communicator.
One book that’s had a lasting impact on the way I communicate with clients (and just, people in general) is How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. It’s crazy because I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and learned more applicable communication skills from this $12 book than I did from my $60k+ college education. Of course, it’s not a PMU book - but it might be one of the most valuable business books you’ll ever read.
