My cup was filled with Joy and “Nourishment” at the 6th Annual Gathering for San Diego County Food Vision 2030 by San Diego Food System Alliance hosted at the beautiful performing arts center at Cuyamaca College and Water Conservation Garden. The topic “Nourishment” inspired profound conversations. The speakers, facilitators and performers where amazing and the connections between farmers, community organizations, local businesses and everyone included in the food system and sustainability was impactful!
The food and the cooking demos were fun and delicious!

After a busy summer, a new season has officially begun. Fall is an ideal time to reset and build new habits that support us in this new phase as the year winds down. Just as trees lose their leaves, we can let go of what no longer serves us.
Change and transition almost always come with their own challenges. Finding the time to wind down and practice self-care is essential. Unfortunately, things outside our control happen, including weather conditions. Last week, after attending a conference in Detroit, I was supposed to meet my hubby and beloved friends in Boston; unfortunately, the powerful Nor’easter pounding the region upended our travel plans. As I decided to head back home, instead of fighting the weather, it would have been easier to get back to the grind and keep pushing at work, day in, day out, to the point of burnout. Which I specifically “teach” in my wellness classes: we shouldn’t do!
The funny thing is that there are no coincidences, and things happen for a reason 🙏🏻
As I was stepping out of the plane in my hometown, I started getting nauseous. Oh, no... what a horrible feeling 🤢
I barely made it home. I must have eaten something that didn't sit well with me, plus the turbulence that was shaking me like a 007 martini ( Shaken, not stirred);
I was so sick that my face was pale blue.
I ended up at urgent care that evening. I can help to wonder, how it would have been if I were stuck at an airport away from home, waiting for a delayed flight for God knows how many hours to get to my destination. This was a true blessing in disguise.
I made it home, the urgent care docs gave me some stuff for motion sickness, and I recovered the next day. Then we decided to make the best of it, and jumped on a train to Ventura, CA, and enjoyed some nice beach weather. We miss our friends who are in Boston and weathered the storms. We hope to see them soon!
Lesson Learned: Stay positive and be resilient when things don’t go as planned. There is always a reason a door doesn’t open easily!
Here are some of our memories from the trip.
Stay 🆒
