First 50K. Done.
It got uncomfortable.
I kept going.
Turns out I can endure a hell of a lot more than I thought.
Now I fix the feet. 😂
Then… next.

Two days after racing a 25K, today’s plan was simple:
7.5 miles.
Easy effort.
Work on climbing.
But somewhere along the trail, I realized I wasn’t managing fatigue anymore, I was moving well.
The legs felt strong.
So I kept going.
What started as a short training hike turned into a half marathon morning.
The biggest lesson wasn’t the distance. It was the confirmation that the work is working.
At 56, I’m not chasing perfect workouts. I’m building the engine for bigger goals ahead: stronger climbs, longer days, and eventually a 100-mile finish line.

Black Mountain 25K.
16.22 miles.
3,025 feet of climbing.
I beat my Garmin goal by almost an hour.
But the mountain showed me something important:
My endurance is ahead of my climbing strength.
That’s not bad news. That’s the roadmap.
Every race should teach you something. This one did.
Now it’s time to get stronger on the climbs.
