I started pure aloha soaps because I grew up surrounded by all things natural. For a good part of my life, I lived with my grandmother who provided everything we needed to survive by growing and making it all herself, 90% of what we used in our daily lives came from our farm and gardens. She had fruit trees, vegetables in the garden and even grew her own rice and other grains as well as raised her own animals. The nearest market to us was miles away and not accessible by automobile. We were self-sufficient; I learned to make everything from making threads out of cotton to making gourds. I loved being surrounded by nature and being able to learn how to use things that were provided to us by nature. I wanted to make natural products mainly because of my family, my children, husband, and I all have sensitive skin and our youngest child has eczema. It is difficult to find products that are gentle and natural enough for us to use. About five years ago, our family moved to Hawaii and this has been the most amazing, life-changing adventure of our lives since our children were born. Being surrounded by so much beauty and being so much closer to nature in the outdoors has been very healthy for us especially, for myself. I worked in the medical field and at my previous job I worked for Naturopathic Doctors, something I was not expecting but wanted to learn all areas of medicine to better myself. Working in this environment has been a great experience for me and has actually brought me back to my roots. The whole idea or goal for treating a person in the naturopathic field is to get to the root of the problem, not just make the symptoms go away as so many of us are used to seeing these days. This made me think about all of the times I have just ignored things that I should have been paying closer attention to such as all the skin problems I've had and just put some prescription or over-the-counter product on it and it came back time after time. I thought about how many products I have purchased in the past and how I did not know what half of those ingredients in them were. I started using my own homemade products with all-natural ingredients such as Shea Butter and Olive Oil, I used it on my skin and hair and on my seven-year-old daughter's skin and hair and started seeing the difference almost immediately, within about two months I saw my daughter's hair become healthier, shinier, and longer. My hair and skin were also healthier and that's when I thought, why not share this with other people who want the same thing I wanted but might not be able to do it themselves? So I decided that if it was working for my family and I then I definitely wanted others to know about it and for those who are able to do this themselves, I hope I can add something to the learning process, feel free to contact me with questions about my products, I am not an expert but I am glad to share what I know and what has worked for me. For those who are not able to, you can feel at ease knowing that if I wouldn't use it for my family then I would not want you to use it for yours.

🍂✨ Fall is creeping into the DIY Beauty Bar… and I’m not mad about it! 😂🍁

Today’s guests came in and created their own fall-scented perfume rollers, and I absolutely loved watching them play around with the scents until they found their perfect fall vibe. 🧡

And here’s your reminder: you don’t need a workshop, a reservation, or a special occasion to play at the DIY Beauty Bar! 😉

Just come in during our current summer hours, Tuesday–Saturday, 12 PM–5 PM, and make something!

You can create your own:

💋 Lip oil
🌸 Roller perfume
🧴 Body scrub
✨ Body oil

And the best part? YOU get to be the formulator. 😏

Pick your favorite fragrances and/or essential oils, then get creative with botanicals like lavender, rose, chamomile, calendula, and more. 🌿🌹

Want something sweet? Earthy? Floral? Fresh? Something that smells like fall, summer, or “I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing but somehow this smells AMAZING”? 😂

That’s the fun of it!

Come experiment, mix, match, sniff everything in sight, and create something that is uniquely yours. And yes… you’re allowed to make something just because it’s fun. 💕✨

📍 Pure Aloha Bath & Beauty
114 Broadway Street
San Antonio, TX
Between East Houston Street & East Commerce Street

⏰ Summer Hours: Tuesday–Saturday, 12 PM–5 PM

Come make something beautiful, get a little creative, and maybe leave smelling fabulous. Because honestly… why not? 😘

This morning, I woke up with an urge to clean and cleanse my space before heading to work, so I decided to listen to that feeling and follow it.

As I was cleaning, I started tending to my plants. And as I really looked at them, I realized something that stopped me in my tracks…

They had been quietly thriving right in front of me, and I hadn’t even noticed. 🌱

There were new leaves I hadn’t seen and fuller branches that hadn’t been there before. They had simply been doing what plants do — receiving what they needed, resting when necessary, and continuing at their own pace.

It made me think about how often we do the same thing to ourselves.

We get so caught up in the days when we don’t feel like our best selves that we forget to pause and recognize how far we’ve come. We remember the difficult days, the exhaustion, the moments we withdrew, and the times when simply making it through the day was enough.

But those days count, too.

Healing looks different for all of us. Some journeys teach us that we are far more capable than we ever imagined. Others teach us that after fighting a hard battle, it’s okay to become quiet. It’s okay to step back. It’s okay to rest.

Not every day requires you to be strong.

So take care of yourself. Give yourself grace. Take the small steps when you can, and on the days you don’t have it in you to do much at all, rest.

Don’t measure your entire journey by your hardest days.

And most importantly, NEVER give up on yourself.

One day, you’ll stop and look around and realize how much has changed. You’ll recognize the strength you didn’t know you had, the wisdom you gained, and the peace you fought so hard to find.

And you’ll realize that even during the moments when you thought you were standing still, you were making your way forward.

You just couldn’t see it yet. ❤️

Trust the journey. Be patient with yourself. And keep going — even when all you can do is take the next small step.

There is something so peaceful about returning to the creative things that bring joy. Lately I started making handmade paper again, and I’m honestly in love with how these colors turned out.

Soft shades of pink, purple, and white came together so beautifully—each sheet unique, textured, and full of character.

Handmade paper reminds me that the most beautiful things take time, patience, and a little creativity. 💗

These will be available for purchase in the store, and I can’t wait to share more with you soon.
