The family that does vivid together… just not on the same appointment. 😂💜💙
Two separate appointments.
Two completely different color stories.
One very colorful mom + daughter duo.
Mom went for those gorgeous purple + magenta tones, while daughter has her own blue + teal moment — and I love how perfectly each color combination fits their individual personalities.
That’s one of my favorite parts of custom color. It isn’t about recreating the exact same look on everyone. It’s about creating something that feels like you, while still making hair health part of the plan.
And apparently, bold color runs in the family. 😂
So I have to ask…
Are you team 💜🩷 or team 💙🩵?

A little heart, a whole lot of detail. 🤎
I’ve been intentionally pushing myself to grow in protective styling—cleaner parts, better control, consistent tension, and adding those little creative details that make a style feel special.
And this one? The heart had to have her moment. 🥹
I’m still learning, still refining, and still challenging myself with every style I do. Because at Haven & Hue, healthy hair will always come first—but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a little fun with it too.

Hispanic Heritage Month feels a little extra special to me. 🤎
I’m proud of my Mexican roots, the culture I come from, and the family we’re raising.
Our culture shows up in so many ways—in our families, our traditions, our food, our music, our work ethic, our laughter, and the way we take care of the people around us.
And as I’ve built Haven & Hue, I’ve realized how much of me naturally became part of this little studio: creating a space where people feel welcomed, cared for, comfortable, and beautiful exactly as they are.
Mis raíces. Mi familia. Mi historia. Mi fuerza.
This Hispanic Heritage Month, I’m celebrating where I come from, the family I’m building, and all the beautiful cultures and stories that walk through my salon doors.

Sometimes a haircut isn’t about taking more off—it’s about making the hair you have work better for you.
My client wanted to keep her length, but her hair has changed over time. She has very fine strands, different textures throughout her hair, and less density through the lower nape area.
So instead of forcing her hair into a shape it didn’t want to make, I worked with it.
We preserved the length she wanted, created shape using the density she does have, kept the products lightweight, and let her natural texture set under the dryer.
And look at those curls. 🤍
Hair changes. Our haircuts can change with it.
Healthy hair. Thoughtful choices. A style that works with you—not against you.

POV: your hairstylist has the day off…
No foils. No formulas. No blowouts.
Just me helping my kids with their FFA animals and apparently working for some very demanding clients today. 🐐
Salon life and livestock life might not have much in common… although I’m still dealing with hair, so maybe they do. 🤣
Just a little glimpse of life outside of Haven & Hue. 🤎
Tomorrow, back to human hair. ✨

✨ KNOW YOUR HAIR: TYPE 3 — CURLY ✨
Let’s talk curls. ➰
Type 3 hair ranges from loose, defined curls to tighter corkscrew patterns:
3A — Larger, looser curls with lots of movement
3B — Springier, more defined ringlets
3C — Tighter, densely packed corkscrew curls
But here’s something I really want my curly clients to know:
Your curl type is only part of the story.
Two people can both have 3B curls and need completely different routines.
Porosity, density, strand thickness, previous chemical services, buildup, hydration, styling habits—and even how often you wash your hair—can all change what your curls need.
That’s why I don’t believe in choosing products based on curl type alone.
Understanding your hair means looking at the whole picture so we can work with your natural texture instead of constantly fighting it. 🤍
Not sure what your curls actually need? That’s exactly the kind of conversation we can have in my chair.

Sometimes the best hair inspiration comes from an unexpected place. 🤍
She asked ChatGPT for haircut ideas, and a short bob was one of the suggestions. Then she brought the idea to me so we could figure out what would actually work for her hair, her features, and the amount of maintenance she wanted.
And this was the result. ✨
A fresh, soft bob with movement, shape, and just enough texture to keep it from feeling too heavy.
Hair inspiration is a great starting point—but my job is to take that inspiration and customize it to the person sitting in my chair.
Because the goal isn’t to copy a haircut.
It’s to create one that feels like you.

✨ Hair Type Sunday | Type 2: Wavy Hair
“Is my hair wavy… or is it just frizzy?”
If you’ve ever asked yourself that, you might have Type 2 hair. 🌊
Type 2 hair generally falls into three categories:
2A — Loose, subtle waves that can be easily weighed down.
2B — More defined S-shaped waves, often becoming more noticeable through the mids and ends.
2C — Stronger, more defined waves that may begin closer to the root and sometimes form loose curls.
But here’s where things get interesting…
Having wavy hair doesn’t automatically mean you need a shelf full of heavy “curly hair” products.
For some Type 2 hair, too much heavy cream, butter or oil can actually weigh down the wave pattern instead of helping it.
And just like we talked about with Type 1, your curl pattern is only one piece of your hair story.
Porosity. Density. Strand thickness. Scalp health. Chemical history. Your routine.
They all matter when we’re figuring out what your hair actually needs.
The goal isn’t to force your hair into a category.
It’s to understand it well enough to work with it. 🤍

Sometimes a haircut is just a haircut.
And sometimes it means so much more. 🤎
When she first sat in my chair in May, she was ready for a big change. We cut off over 12 inches of hair, and during that appointment we talked about how our hair can hold so many memories — different seasons of our lives, different versions of ourselves, and moments we never want to forget.
There was something really beautiful about that haircut.
Not about leaving the past behind or forgetting what came before, but about giving yourself permission to move forward while still carrying those memories with you.
She ended up loving her shorter hair, and when she came back this time, she wanted to keep the length and take her front pieces a little shorter.
Then we decided to see what her natural texture wanted to do…
And look at her. 🥹🤎
All of those curls were waiting underneath.
Different appointment. Different season. Same beautiful head of hair — just continuing to evolve.
Sometimes changing our hair isn’t about becoming someone new.
Sometimes it’s simply about making a little more room for who we’re becoming.

✨ Hair Type Sunday | Type 1: Straight Hair
Let’s start with Type 1 — straight hair.
Straight hair may seem pretty straightforward (see what I did there? 😂), but there’s actually a lot more to understanding it than just “my hair is straight.”
1A — Very straight, typically finer strands with little natural volume
1B — Straight with a little more body and movement
1C — Straight with more texture, often thicker strands and sometimes a slight bend
One thing I really want you to remember throughout this series:
Your hair type is only part of your hair story.
Porosity, density, strand thickness, scalp condition, chemical history and even your daily routine can completely change what your hair needs.
That’s why two people can both have Type 1 hair and LOVE completely different products.
Understanding your hair isn’t about putting it into a box — it’s about learning what it needs so you can work with it instead of constantly fighting it. 🤍
