Turn the book into a “Class Promise.” ✍️
In the story, Karen's class keeps a promise on the wall:
• Listen Kindly
• Respect Others
• Include Everyone

After reading, invite students to co-write their own. When kids build the rules, they keep the rules.

Privilege isn't always loud or mean. Sometimes it sounds like certainty. Sometimes it sounds like “I know best.”

It helps children understand a simple but powerful idea: using the right name and pronouns is one way we show respect.
