Lee Lee's Valise IntoTheMystic

☎️ I’LL GET IT!!!
Remember when the telephone rang, and the whole family came running?

No caller ID. No texting first. No privacy. And somebody was ALWAYS listening on the extension!

This week on Life According to Lisa (and Jim too!), we’re going back to rotary phones, ridiculously long telephone cords, busy signals, payphones, answering machines, and the days when we actually knew everybody’s phone number!

Remember waiting all night for someone special to call? ❤️
And now? The phone rings, and we wonder why they didn’t just TEXT us!

🎙️ Episode 27: Hanging on the Telephone
Listen on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, or watch on YouTube!

Do you still remember your childhood phone number? Tell us in the comments!

🎙️ Episode 26, Part II: So, You Want to Write a Book?
You wrote the book.
You typed THE END.
Congratulations! You’re finished!
Except... you’re not.
Now you have to turn that manuscript into an actual book.

Paperback or hardcover? White paper or cream? Who designs the cover? What goes on the back? What’s an ISBN? An LCCN? How does your book actually get into bookstores and libraries?
And yes...
YOU HAVE TO PICK THE PAPER.

This week, we’re talking about everything that happens after you finish writing, including some of the things I learned, mistakes I made, and surprises I encountered while publishing The Brooklyn Witch: The Battle for Brooklyn.

Because apparently...
Writing the book was only the beginning.

🎙️ Episode 26, Part 1: So, You Want to Write a Book? Here’s What Nobody Tells You.
Everybody has a great idea for a book.
Then you actually have to write it.
This week, we’re taking you behind the scenes of what it really takes to turn an idea into an actual novel.
First person or third? How long should a chapter be? How much research is enough? And what happens when the characters YOU created start telling YOU what they would and wouldn’t do?

Lisa shares how The Brooklyn Witch: The Battle for Brooklyn went from an idea to a finished novel, what she’s learning while writing Book Two, and Jim joins in with what he’s discovering as he works on his own first book.

Eventually, after all the writing, rewriting, researching, and second-guessing, you finally type:
THE END.
You’re finished!
Right?
Not even close.

Scroll. Skip. Swipe. Repeat. 📱📺
We skip the intro. Fast-forward the commercials. Scroll past anything that doesn’t grab us immediately. And waiting a whole WEEK for the next episode? Forget it.
But if our attention spans are really getting shorter, how can we binge six episodes in one night?
This week, we’re talking about cliffhangers, boredom, TV theme songs, whole albums, slow-burn movies, TikTok, Reels, and the endless fight for our attention.
Maybe our attention spans aren’t broken.
Maybe we’re just more selective about what deserves them.

Remember when you could just DO something without downloading an app first? 📱
Dinner? App.
Banking? App.
Parking? App.
Dating? App.
Directions? App.
This week, we’re asking: Do all of these things REALLY need an app?
We’re talking about the apps that made life easier, the ones we can’t live without, and the ones that somehow made simple things more complicated.

THE INTERNET IS DOWN.
Not for an hour.
Not until you reboot the router.
FOR SEVEN DAYS. 😳
No Google. No GPS. No Amazon. No streaming. No social media.
Now what?!
We’re breaking out the phone book, unfolding the road map and trying to remember how the hell we did ANYTHING before the internet.
And then there’s the bigger question...
What would we actually get BACK?
