I’m not waiting until I feel completely ready. I’m not waiting until life gets less busy. And I’m definitely not waiting until I stop being nervous.

I’m just doing it anyway!!!

In 9 days, I start nail school at 41. 🙋🏾‍♀️ And somewhere along the way, this stopped being just about nails. It became proof to myself that I can still choose something new for my life.

So now I wanna know…

FYI: I’ve never done Halloween nails, graffiti nails, OR drawn a ghost on a nail… so naturally I decided to try all three at once on myself 😅

After seeing ghost nails all over my feed, I wanted mine to reflect me. She had to have brown skin, an Afro, and hoop earrings. She’s my lil chocolaty home ghoul 😏 🤎🧡💜

What yall think?

One hand down. I still have to do the other one… eventually. 🫣

Apparently one of the hardest parts of becoming a beginner again is remembering that I’m allowed to actually BE a beginner. 😅

I haven’t even started nail school yet and somehow I’ve been judging myself like I should’ve graduated already. 😂

So I’m leaving this here as a little time capsule. Six months from now, I want to come back and see what practice, repetition, education and a little patience with myself can do.

At 41, I’m not interested in deciding I’m “too old,” “too late,” or “not naturally talented enough” to become really good at something I love.

We gon’ see what happens. 🫰🏾💅🏾😎

My most loyal client said pink & black… again. 😂🩷🖤

At this point, it’s officially her signature colorway — which means every other week I get a new assignment: figure out how to make the SAME two colors look completely different. 😭

This time we went stars, stripes, texture + a little Y2K energy. ✨

And no, there’s no process footage because her mama was trying to finish these nails and go SKATING. 😂🛼🤸🏽‍♂️

Because apparently working full time (nights) wasn’t enough 😭😂
26 days until I trade self-taught for nail student. Let’s see what happens… 💅🏾

It’s official ☑️ I am registered for cosmetology school & PUMPED!!! Class starts October 13th. Self-taught,
always learning and now… licensed is finally in motion. Follow along as I navigate nail school while still working FT 😮‍💨
