Thank you to my sweet, thoughtful husband. This is the most beautiful keepsake to honor our son. I will cherish it forever & ever. 🩵🪽

To our daddy,

The rawness of your journey into fatherhood…it’s hard to fathom all that we’ve been through together this past year and it feels almost impossible to put into words how much you mean to me. I thought when we got married I couldn’t love you more, then I watched you hold our son. We experienced our greatest loss imaginable together and even when you didn’t know what to do, you showed up for me no matter what. You cared for me the way no one else could. You are the strength that carried us when i had none. I couldn’t have made it through this without you.

Josiah, and of course Crosby, are so blessed to call you daddy. I know Josiah is smiling down from heaven, so proud to be yours. Thank you for all that you do. It’s the way you help me see all the micro joys in life that we’re surviving this macro grief.

Happy Father’s Day my love 🩵

Today marks one month since we left the hospital without you.

Nothing could’ve prepared me for being wheeled out of that hospital, distraught, holding clay imprints of my baby’s footprints, but no baby in my arms. My mind replays that day over and over and over again. Some days it keeps me up at night. It flashes in my mind and disrupts the short sense of “normal” I’m feeling at that moment, then comes the uncontrollable tears.

Last night I sobbed about never being able to change your diaper. Never hearing your cry. I prayed and pleaded God to give you back to me, but then I had to stop myself, because how selfish am I…I could never take Heaven away from my precious baby. My Josiah didn’t deserve to die, but he sure does deserve Heaven. So for that reason, im learning how to honor my grief by carrying both my love and grief together. This space feels sacred.

Grief is a testament of a love so deep and I am so eternally grateful for the love I was blessed to experience. A mother’s love. My baby might not be here, in my arms, but he is forever a part of me.

So today im doing my best to focus on what I do have…a roof over my head, incredible family and friends who love me, the best husband who prays over me, a healthy body that formed life, and a perfect angel baby who made me a mommy. 👼🏽🩵

May this day always be rooted in thankfulness. 🙏

The moment heaven came down and touched earth. Our precious baby boy was born, 4 lbs 3 oz. We became parents that day and experienced the greatest joy, which was soon followed by our deepest sorrow. Our hearts and our arms long for our sweet baby, but you were too pure and perfect for this world. Josiah, “God has healed you”—although it wasn’t here on earth, we know you are fully healed in heaven, wrapped in the arms of Jesus.

The pain we feel right now is so immense and although our hearts are broken, we are filled with unexplainable peace and hope that only God can give. Thank God, this life isn’t the end, we know we will hold our baby boy again. ✝️🤍

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
And before you were born I consecrated you;
I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
—Jeremiah 1:5
