🍂🤎 From My Table Friday 🤎🍂

October is officially here, the temperatures are finally starting to drop, and what better From My Table Friday with a warm loaf of homemade pumpkin bread? 🎃🍞

Because really… is there anything better than a thick slice of warm pumpkin bread with a little butter melting right into it while that first taste of fall is in the air? 🍂

So this week, we’re making our NEW & IMPROVED PUMPKIN LOAF BREAD!

I took a recipe we already loved and made a few simple swaps..real butter instead of oil, whole milk instead of water, and a combination of organic cane sugar and brown sugar for an even richer fall flavor.

And as always, we’re using organic ingredients throughout wherever applicable. 🌿

🎃 NEW & IMPROVED PUMPKIN LOAF

Ingredients:

• 1 cup organic cane sugar
• ½ cup organic brown sugar
• 2 organic eggs
• ½ cup (1 stick) organic unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
• 8 oz organic canned pumpkin
• 1¼ cups organic all-purpose flour
• 1 tsp organic pumpkin pie spice
• ¾ tsp salt
• 1 tsp baking soda
• ¼ tsp baking powder
• ⅓ cup organic whole (or raw) milk

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
2. Line the bottom of a loaf pan with parchment paper, then lightly spray the pan and parchment paper with avocado oil spray.
3. In a large bowl, mix together the cane sugar, brown sugar, eggs, melted butter and pumpkin until well combined.
4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, pumpkin pie spice and salt.
5. Alternating with the milk, gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture. Stir just until combined, don’t overmix!
6. Pour the batter into your prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
7. Bake at 350°F for approximately 45–50 minutes, beginning to check the center at 45 minutes. Depending on your oven and loaf pan, it may need a little longer. It’s ready when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with just a few moist crumbs.
8. Let cool in the pan for about 10–15 minutes before removing and allowing it to finish cooling.

Or… don’t wait quite that long. 😉 Cut yourself a thick slice while it’s still warm, add a little butter and enjoy that first cozy taste of October. 🎃🧈🍂

Simple ingredients. A warm kitchen. A recipe made just a little better.

🌻 From My Table to yours, Happy October!

🌻🌿 Wildflower Way Wednesday 🌿🌻

This week I want to share something a little different, a personal experience that opened my eyes (quite literally 😉) to another approach to wellness.

Last Wednesday, I had my very first appointment with a naturopathic practitioner who also practices iridology.

If you’ve never heard of iridology, you’re probably not alone! Iridology is an alternative wellness practice that can diagnose health conditions and organ dysfunction by examining patterns, colors, and features of the iris. I wanted to share my experience, because it was fascinating!!!

A couple of weeks before this appointment, I had an unexpected health episode that landed me at urgent care. I had testing done but walked away feeling like I still had so many unanswered questions. To this day, I have never been contacted about the results of my blood work.

Then I sat down with Dr. Thomas.

During our consultation, she examined my eyes, asked questions about what I had been experiencing and talked with me about several areas of my health including some of the changes I’ve been navigating with perimenopause.

She also recommended several supplements based on our consultation, which I’ve since incorporated into my routine. After just 1 week I have already noticed a tremendous difference in how I’ve been feeling.

I love learning about the body, nutrition, herbs and different approaches to supporting wellness. This appointment gave me another perspective and helped me think about my health in a completely different way.

For my fellow West Texans, some of you may already know Dr. Thomas — apparently I’m late to the party! 😂 I am just discovering her, and I’m so thankful that I did.

She is based in Odessa and also comes to Natural Foods Market in Midland once a week for scheduled appointments. I’ll include her website and contact information below for anyone who wants to learn more about her practice or decide whether this type of complementary approach might be something they’d like to explore.

Because part of The Wildflower Way is staying curious, continuing to learn, and finding the tools that help us become more intentional about our own wellness. 🌻🌿

🌿🐝 Meet the Remedy Monday 🐝🌿

✨ INTRODUCING WILD DRAW SALVE
Draw. Soothe. Protect.

There’s a brand-new remedy joining the Wildflower Wellness family, and this is one I’ve been wanting to create for quite some time!

Meet Wild Draw Salve. 🌻🌿

A good drawing salve is one of those old-fashioned remedies that deserves a permanent place in the family medicine cabinet. It’s made to be reached for when life happens, especially those little outdoor mishaps that come with playing, gardening, hiking, working outside, or simply enjoying nature.

🐝 Bug bites & stings
🌿 Splinters and stubborn little spots
🩹 Minor cuts & scrapes
🌱 Irritated, itchy skin
🌼 Everyday bumps and outdoor skin woes

Wild Draw was thoughtfully formulated with a blend of gentle yet powerful ingredients chosen to work together to help draw, soothe, calm and protect the skin.

Rather than creating something harsh, I wanted a salve that could do its job while still being gentle enough to earn a permanent spot in our own home.

Because sometimes the best remedies are the simple ones..plants, oils and traditional ingredients working together the way they have for generations. 🌿

And just like every Wildflower Wellness remedy, Wild Draw is handcrafted in small batches with intention and care.

🤎 Wild Draw Salve is officially AVAILABLE TODAY!

🛒 Shop it now on the Wildflower Wellness website
🌿 And look for it stocked at our Grace & Hustle location!

🌻🌿 Meet the Remedy Monday 🌻🌿

Introducing Slim & Slender Tea!

There’s a brand-new blend joining the Wildflower Wellness family, and this one was created for those working toward healthier habits and weight-management goals.

Meet Slim & Slender Tea. 🌺

One thing I want to make very clear: there is no magic tea that replaces nourishing food, movement, hydration, rest and consistency. But in the herbal world, we believe plants can come alongside those healthy habits and that was exactly the inspiration behind this blend.

🌿 Cinnamon — A warming herb traditionally used for digestive and metabolic wellness. Cinnamon has also been studied for its potential effects on glucose metabolism, making it a beautiful addition to a wellness-focused blend.

🌿 Dandelion Root — One of my favorite traditional herbs for digestive and liver support. Dandelion has a long history of herbal use and brings that earthy, grounding component to our blend.

🌿 Fenugreek — Naturally rich in soluble fiber and traditionally used for digestive and metabolic support. Research has also explored fenugreek for its potential effects on glucose and lipid metabolism.

🌺 Hibiscus — This beautiful tart flower is rich in naturally occurring plant compounds and makes this blend both refreshing and vibrant. Hibiscus has also been studied for its potential role in supporting metabolic and cardiovascular wellness.

🌿 Stinging Nettle — A nutrient-rich herb with a long history of traditional herbal use. It rounds out our blend beautifully while supporting an overall whole-body wellness approach.

🍒 Schisandra Berry — Known in traditional herbalism as the “five-flavor berry,” schisandra is considered an adaptogenic herb and has traditionally been used to support resilience and the body’s response to stress. Because stress and healthy lifestyle habits so often intersect, I love what this little berry brings to the blend.

Together, these six herbs create a naturally caffeine-free herbal tea designed to complement healthy eating, regular movement, hydration and rest while supporting digestive, metabolic and overall wellness.

Because reaching your goals isn’t about finding a magic fix. It’s about creating sustainable habits nourishing your body, moving it, drinking your water, getting enough rest, managing stress and finding natural ways to support yourself along the way.

Slim & Slender Tea was created to be one more little tool in that journey. 🌿

🍂 From My Table Friday 🍂

Usually when I share a From My Table Friday, it’s something we’ve already made, loved, and officially given the family stamp of approval. 😂

But this week is a little different!

I came across this recipe and immediately thought, Yep. We’re making THAT this weekend. And it looked way too good not to go ahead and share with y’all!

🥔 Loaded Baked Potato Soup in a Cheddar Sourdough Bread Bowl (thank you Emily Adams)!🥓🧀

First things first, run over to Ashlyn Simon Sourdough and request one of her amazing cheddar, bacon & chive sourdough bread bowls (or any other flavor) because I’m pretty sure that takes this whole thing to another level!

For the Loaded Baked Potato Soup:

• 6 gold potatoes (about 2 lbs), peeled & cut
• 8–10 pieces bacon, chopped
• 2 Tbsp butter
• 2 Tbsp reserved bacon grease
• 1 medium yellow onion, diced
• 4 garlic cloves, minced
• ¼ cup organic or fresh milled all-purpose flour
• 2 cups raw milk
• 1 cup heavy cream
• 3 cups organic chicken broth
• Salt & black pepper, to taste
• ½ tsp paprika
• 2 cups freshly shredded cheddar cheese
• Fresh chives for garnish

To make it: Cook the chopped bacon in a large pot until crispy, then remove it and set aside, reserving about 2 tablespoons of the bacon grease.

Add the butter and reserved bacon grease to the pot, then sauté the diced onion until softened. Add the garlic and cook just until fragrant.

Sprinkle in the flour and stir for about a minute to create your roux. Slowly whisk in the chicken broth, milk and heavy cream until smooth.

Add the potatoes, paprika, salt and pepper. Bring everything to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat and simmer until the potatoes are fork-tender, stirring occasionally.

Once tender, lightly mash some of the potatoes right in the pot while leaving plenty of chunks, this helps make the soup extra thick and creamy. Stir in the freshly shredded cheddar over low heat until melted and smooth. Loaded potato soups commonly use this partial-mashing technique to thicken the soup while keeping that hearty potato texture.

Then stir some of that crispy bacon back in and save the rest for the top!

Now comes the best part: hollow out that cheddar, bacon & chive sourdough bread bowl, ladle in that creamy soup, and finish it with extra cheddar, crispy bacon and fresh chives. 🤤

I’ll report back after we make it this weekend, but I have a feeling this one might earn a permanent spot in our fall recipe rotation!

Because sometimes From My Table Friday starts with a tried-and-true family favorite… and sometimes it starts with something that looks so good you just HAVE to try it. ❤️

🌿 Happy Friday from our table to yours!

🌿 Wildflower Way Wednesday 🌿

Wellness doesn’t have to be perfect.

I think sometimes we make “living a healthier lifestyle” so complicated that it becomes overwhelming before we even begin.

You start reading about ingredients. Then food. Then cleaning products. Then skincare. Then cookware. Then supplements. And suddenly you’re standing in your house thinking, Well…apparently I need to replace everything I own. 😂

You don’t.

Maybe your wellness journey starts with changing your household cleaner.

Then your hand soap.

Maybe next month you find a laundry detergent you feel better about.

Maybe you start reading labels at the grocery store a little more closely or adding more whole foods to your meals.

One little change at a time.

Research. Learn. Decide what makes sense for you and your family. And slowly, those little decisions begin to build a lifestyle.

And I think we also need to talk about the harder side of wellness.

We can eat well. Exercise. Reduce unnecessary exposures. Prioritize sleep. Manage stress. Take supplements. Do all the “right” things…

…and none of that gives us a guarantee that we will never get sick.

People who live incredibly healthy lives can still develop cancer, heart disease and other illnesses. Wellness isn’t a promise that nothing bad will ever happen.

But that doesn’t make caring for ourselves pointless.

For me, it’s about doing what I reasonably can to support my body and hopefully give myself the opportunity for not just longevity but healthy longevity.

And then comes the other side of it:

We still have to LIVE.

If it’s a beautiful summer night and my family wants to go to a baseball game, I’m going.

And I might have the hot dog.

I might have the b**r.

And I might get ice cream with the kids afterward. ❤️

I’m not going to spend the entire night worrying about every ingredient and miss the laughter, conversation and memories happening right in front of me.

Because I don’t want my pursuit of wellness to become so consuming that I forget to enjoy the very life I’m trying so hard to protect.

Wellness isn’t perfection.

It’s learning.
It’s making intentional choices.
It’s changing what you can.
It’s giving yourself grace when you don’t.
And it’s remembering that the little things matter.

One choice at a time.
One swap at a time.
One day at a time.

That’s how a wellness lifestyle is built. 🌻🌿

Not through fear. Not through perfection. Through balance.

🔥 HOT, HOT, HOT!!! RESTOCKED AT OLD TOWN TIQUES MALL! 🔥

You all have been keeping these favorites moving, so another restock was officially required! 🌿🤍

✨ Elderberry Syrup
✨ Tender Root Cough Syrup

Both are freshly restocked and ready for you at Old Town Tiques Mall!

🌿 A quick little shop update: Due to a temporary air-conditioning issue, we’ve pulled our butters and colloidal silver from the shelves for now. With the West Texas heat, we want to protect the quality of our products, excessive heat can change the consistency of our butters, so we’d rather temporarily pull them than have them sitting in temperatures that aren’t ideal.

But don’t worry! 🤍 As soon as the A/C is fixed OR these temperatures cool down I whichever comes first, we’ll get those favorites restocked!

As always, if you’re looking for something you don’t see at Old Town Tiques, reach out to us directly! We’ll be happy to help. 🌿
