🌿 Lucero, the Cat from the Woods 🌿
Before she became Lucero, she was Bebé — a cat trying to survive alone in the woods.
She shared the remains of her food with ants, watched raccoons eat nearby, and found shelter among the rocks and roots. Other cats lived around her, but they did not accept her. More than anything, she wanted companionship — at least one friend so she would not have to feel so alone.
Then everything changed.
Bebé was rescued and slowly discovered something she had never truly known before: safety, care, patience, and love. Today, Bebé is Lucero, a beautiful 5-year-old girl who has learned to trust the people caring for her.
Now she is ready for the next chapter of her story: a loving forever home. ❤️
Lucero is available for responsible adoption through People for Animal Wellness Rescue.
Please share her story. Somewhere out there may be the person who will give Lucero the forever love she has been waiting for. 🐾

On the day honoring the black cat # I must say as the founder and president of this wonderful organization,
That black cats are amazingly loving, very smart, and great companions.
Panther is our second ever black cat, with us very well at his 14 years of age.
I was at Miami Dade Animal Services looking to rescue a small dog to honor the memory of Kirov, a Pomeranian we had rescued literally from the streets of Kendall at an already old age and who was my little shadow and traveling partner for a few years.
As I was standing there, sadly considering which dog to bring home with so many others looking at me, this girl rushed to me with a box, tears in her eyes, begging me to please take them. Her mother did not want them. Miami Dade had no room for them.
I picked the box, saw a beautiful Calico with five little ones, and reassured the girl that I would personally look after them. And so that’s how Tutsie the mom with Kata, Rubio, Sunshine, Augustus, and Panther came to be permanent residents of this sanctuary.
The first black cat ever here was Smoky, born of Kitty, with siblings Angel, Duchess, and Sylvester
They were the first ever feline family born here shortly after we received/rescued Kitty, much before I ever envisioned People for Animal Wellness and A Cat’s Paradise.
And then came many other black beauties, among them
Onyx, Habibi, Shalom, Oreo, Fortuna, Hills, and so many more.
God Bless Them All.

At PAWS People – People for Animals Wellness, we believe every cat deserves a chance—a chance to be safe, nourished, cared for, loved, and ultimately find a forever home.
Because every life deserves a chance. 🐾❤️
Please support our mission :
👉 Zelle: [email protected] 🚨 Every single dollar makes a difference
Our mission began with a simple but powerful decision: to help those who have no voice. And every day, that mission becomes possible because of an incredible community of compassionate people.
🐾 To our adoptive families:
Thank you for opening not only your homes, but your hearts. Adoption is more than bringing an animal home—it is accepting a responsibility, creating a bond, and changing the course of a life forever. ❤️
🐾 To our donors of food, medicine, litter, and supplies:
Thank you for turning generosity into meals for hungry cats, medical care for those who are sick, warm beds for those who once slept on the streets, and opportunities for us to continue rescuing.
Every donation becomes a life touched.
🐾 To our fosters, guardians, caregivers, and volunteers:
Thank you for the sleepless nights, the bottles, the vet visits, the endless cleaning, the patience, and the unconditional love. You are the bridge between the streets and a safe, loving home. 🐾
🐾 To the founders of PAWS People:
Thank you for having the courage to begin this journey—to turn compassion into action and create a mission that has given so many animals the chance to be rescued, cared for, and loved.
Because rescue is not simply about saving an animal
It is about changing a story.
It is about restoring hope.
It is about looking at a frightened, hungry, or forgotten soul and saying:
“We see you.
You are not alone.
Your life matters.” ❤️
