Everyone keeps asking me, “Who are you going with to the Joy 101 retreat with?”

The answer is… me.

I’m heading to Amelia Island for a wellness retreat with Hoda Kotb, and I’m actually really excited to go solo. I’ve realized that I get the most out of an experience when I arrive as just myself with no expectations, no agenda, and an openness to whatever (and whoever) I’m meant to meet ♾️

And somehow, I always leave with more than I came with…new connections that turn into friendships, meaningful conversations, and memories I never could have planned.

That’s exactly what happened at my first retreat in Maroma 15 years ago, and some of those connections are still in my life today!

So here I go again… just me, heading into a new adventure, and curious to see who I’ll meet and what I’ll discover along the way 🥰

Cancer has touched my family in more ways than one, and it’s made me pay very close attention to how far cancer care has come ❤️‍🩹
My late grandmother battled breast cancer, my late dad underwent robotic surgery to remove prostate cancer, and my father-in-law has been in remission with Multiple myeloma for more than 10 years.
Like many of you, I’m sure cancer has touched your life, too. That’s why this partnership with feels especially meaningful to me. While as a yoga teacher, I’m all about the mind-body connection, sometimes healing needs science, too.
The Center for Proton Therapy at Lynn Cancer Institute is now open, and we’re incredibly lucky to have access to this kind of advanced care right here in our community! Unlike traditional radiation, which passes through the body, proton therapy is designed to stop at the tumor, allowing doctors to precisely target the treatment while helping protect healthy tissue nearby. And when a tumor is close to something irreplaceable (like the brain, spine, or a growing child), that precision really matters. The treatment is painless, takes about 15 minutes, and you get to go home the same day.
Hopefully, it’s a resource my family and I never need, but knowing it’s here, right in our own backyard, is something I’m incredibly grateful for!

New York City shaped me 🌆

After interning there my junior year of college, I knew that it would be my home right after I graduated. My career started the Empire State Building, and I spent the majority of my 20’s living in the city 🍎

On September 11, I’m reminded of the strength, resilience and love that lives within this city and its people.Most importantly, I remember the heroes who gave so much, and the families whose lives were forever changed 🇺🇸

Today, I’m holding close the reminder to live fully, love deeply, be kind, and never take an ordinary day, or the people we share it with, for granted!

We remember, honor, and we carry the light forward ✨
