No more basic earning! This is the best way to earn Amex points on dining!
How to book Emirates First Class with points:
My experience: At the time, I paid just 102,000 points transferred from my Amex card to Qantas. Taxes were $104.
Unfortunately, this option doesn’t exist anymore!
Today, you need elite status to book Emirates First Class with points:
• Emirates Skywards: Silver status or higher
• Qantas Frequent Flyer: Silver status or higher
• Air Canada Aeroplan: 35K status or higher
So if you don’t have status, there’s another strategy worth knowing:
👉 Book Emirates Business Class first, then upgrade to First Class with Skywards miles if upgrade space becomes available.
Depending on availability, you may be able to upgrade before departure, at check-in, or even onboard.
Just make sure you have enough Skywards miles in your account for the upgrade before you try.
And this is exactly why I spend so much time researching points (also bc I’m obsessed hehe).

If Japan Airlines really lost access to Emirates awards, it changes one of the best strategies we had for booking Emirates with points.
Nothing has officially been confirmed yet, so I’m not jumping to conclusions, but I’m checking availability, comparing partner programs, and watching for any changes.
But if this strategy is really gone.. I’ll find the next best one.

Yesterday I posted deals to Spain, today you get Germany, Tokyo, Taipei, Egypt and even Brazil!
Look, there’s a new transfer bonus to Air Canada Aeroplan happening right now, and you can book deals like this:
- Europe for as low as 50,000 points in business class
- Tokyo for as low as 46,000 points (flying ANA)
- Taipei on EVA Air for 71,000 points
And a couple hidden gems: nonstop to Brazil in economy for 25,000, and business class to Cairo on EgyptAir.
