๐ŸŒŸ Celebrating Women in Small Business Month! ๐ŸŒŸ

Today weโ€™re excited to spotlight another talented local woman who turned a personal favorite into a creative small business โ€“ Darcy Geho with Preserving My Sanity!๐Ÿงผ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’•

As someone with sensitive skin, Darcy had used goat milk soap for years. About four years ago, her love of learning inspired her to take a soapmaking classโ€”and she was hooked! One thing led to another, and before long Darcy was creating a variety of handcrafted soaps, lotions, and bath & body products for her online shop.

Darcy also owns a marketing business, so after spending plenty of time behind a computer, soapmaking provides the perfect creative outlet. She gets to step away from the screen and create products that are both beautiful and functional. โœจ

๐Ÿ Her goat milk soap and lotion are made with milk sourced locally right here in Murray County! She also offers other bath & body products, accessories, and gifts.

๐ŸŽบ Fun fact: During college, Darcy spent a season marching with the Pride of the Dakotas at South Dakota State University!

๐Ÿ›๏ธ Want to shop local and support her business? Visit PreservingMySanity.com and choose free local pickup at checkout. You can also find her products at The Corner Market in Tyler and Merch & Co. in Edgerton. Plus, watch for her at the Fulda Holiday Bazaar in November!

โค๏ธ During Women in Small Business Month, we encourage you to shop small, support local, and celebrate the women whose creativity and hard work make our communities even better!

Itโ€™s Blue Tuesday at Little Blue Market! ๐Ÿ’™

I love being part of a marketplace that makes it easier to find and support small businesses that are trying to make a difference. There are so many thoughtful products and wonderful people behind these businesses, and Iโ€™m happy to be one of them.

With the holidays coming up, itโ€™s also a good reminder that we donโ€™t have to wait until December to start shopping. Shopping small and early can make a real difference to the people behind the businesses youโ€™re supporting.

So if youโ€™re shopping for something special or starting your holiday list early, visit Little Blue Market and see what you can find. ๐ŸŽ

I'd love you to meet my entry for this month's Soap Challenge Club - Party Pop! ๐ŸŽ‰

This month's project featured a "pointy layers" technique, taught by Nectaria Bogdanis of Soapfistication.

I've been busy making a lot of fall and holiday soap lately, which means working with a pretty steady rotation of brown, gold, green, and red. So, as someone who loves bright colors, I knew I wanted to go bold and fun with this one for a change of pace!

I chose hot pink, bright yellow, and neon orange to complement the fruity Ch*****ne Toast fragrance, with notes of sparkling ch*****ne, fresh berries, and tangerine. ๐Ÿฅ‚

Thank you to Nectaria for teaching this technique, Nurture Handmade for sponsoring the challenge, and Amanda and Robyn of the Soap Challenge Club for hosting another fun month! ๐Ÿฅฐ

(Party Pop will be available in my shop in 6 weeks.)

My latest Destination Series soap takes us to Charleston, South Carolina! ๐Ÿ’•

I haven't actually visited Charleston yet, so this one was inspired by something a little sweeter: pralines!

Pralines are a Southern favorite treat - especially in South Carolina and Georgia - so I wanted to bring that inspiration into this soap. It's scented with a brown sugar pecan fragrance, and the vanilla in the fragrance naturally turns the soap brown, giving it the perfect base for the praline-inspired design.

I added a few soft pastel colors for contrast, inspired by the pretty colors found on Charleston's historic buildings and the colors you might use to decorate a box of pralines.

It's definitely a little different from some of my other Destination Series soaps, but that's part of the fun of making them. Each one gets its own story. ๐Ÿ˜Š

I only make one batch of each Destination Series soap, and this one is available now! ๐ŸŽ‰

If you're a vacation rental owner or host, I'd love to help you create a custom soap inspired by what makes your location special, something your guests will remember long after their stay. ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™€๏ธ

Fall has a way of making us want to reset a little. ๐Ÿ‚

The slower days of summer start giving way to routines, cooler weather, and a home that somehow needs a little attention too.

But a reset doesn't have to mean tackling everything at once. Sometimes, a few small changes are enough to make everyday life feel a little more manageable.

I shared a few simple ideas for getting back into a fall rhythm, without turning it into another overwhelming to-do list.
