At the Minted Vintage Market on Saturday, someone asked us if we would ever make a toothpaste/tooth powder… and honestly, it got us thinking! 👀

One of the things we love most about River & Laurel is that some of the products we make actually start with YOU asking us for them. 🤎

We’ve had customers suggest products, scents, and ideas, and sometimes we think, “Okay… maybe we really should make that!” 😂

So now we’re curious about this one…

We’re considering creating a natural tooth powder with a simple ingredient list and that old-fashioned, apothecary feel we love. 🌿

Here’s what we’re thinking and why:

🦷 Calcium Carbonate — a gentle cleansing and polishing base
✨ Baking Soda — helps cleanse and freshen
🌿 Xylitol — adds natural sweetness and a pleasant taste
🌱 Bentonite Clay — gives the powder body and texture
🌿 Peppermint + Spearmint — for a fresh, clean minty flavor

The goal would be a simple oral-care option without unnecessary dyes or foaming ingredients, while still giving you that fresh feeling you want after brushing.

And before anyone asks… yes, we know our name is River & Laurel Tallow Co., but this one would NOT contain tallow! 😂🤎

We don’t want to add tallow to something just because our name says “Tallow Co.” We want every ingredient we use to have a purpose and make sense for the product. Since this would be an oral-care product, we also don’t love the idea of putting oils or fats into something that ultimately gets rinsed down the drain.

We’d also want to make sure the final formula is properly tested and safe for oral use before we ever put it up for sale.

But before we put the time and money into developing it…
