Last year, I sat down with Chloe Willow Shakin to talk about something I spent decades keeping private: living with a BFRB.

That conversation became a New York Times article about BFRBs, social media, shame and what happens when we start talking openly about the things we’ve been taught to hide.

That conversation is continuing next month and I’m incredibly honored to be joining the same people featured in that article for OCD SoCal’s Online OCD Conference, where we’ll be talking about “From Private Struggles to Public Stories: Sharing BFRBs in the Media.”

For someone who spent most of her life feeling ashamed and alone because of dermatillomania, getting to have this conversation publicly still feels pretty surreal.
