Had a wonderful time in WA last week, running a promotion for Compass Coffee Bar Bothell —one of our newer accounts where the oncology researchers work (what an honor!). It’s always such a pleasure to meet my colleagues in real life and get to know the teams. While there, I also got to complete my annual CPR certification in person with our Seattle teams.

All in all, a great trip!

A great way to increase guest engagement is to give your guests the power to vote on what they like, as Eurest Cafe El Monte is doing in their Instagram stories. All you have to do is use the “Questions” sticker option in stories. Reach out to me for a quick tutorial if you’d like to try this. ☺️

Join us for the Keep America Beautiful Greatest American Cleanup—the largest cleanup effort in American history. It’s really simple...Bring your teams together for a meaningful day of service in the community of your choice; your own location, a local park, trail, beach, or neighborhood space. OR join an existing cleanup event already happening in your area. And Win Prizes for your team!

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
1) Pick a date that works best for your team.
2) Choose your location or find an existing cleanup near you through the Keep America Beautiful Affiliate Locator.
3) Gather your team and supplies (gloves, grabbers, trash bags, safety vests)
4) Report your results and photos through the Eurest Cares Activity Tracker so we can combine our impact across the country.
5) WIN PRIZES! We’re turning cleanup into a friendly competition! Divisions will compete for bragging rights, and America250-themed prize packs, while engaging in some good-natured “trash talk” on Nudge as teams track their totals and cheer each other on.

Let’s leave our communities better than we found them. Lead the way and encourage your team to join this nationwide effort. Together, we can make a lasting impact! 🗑️🌎

Contact me for support or with questions. I’m happy to send you the Toolkit.

What an honor it was to join my colleagues from the PACC (People and Culture Council/formerly the DIAC) in a two day training in Charlotte. When you have a room full of people who are committed to making sure that everyone is included and has equal opportunity, let me tell you —that is a really good group of people. You could feel the positive energy in the room.

We capped off the training days by packing 500 sandwiches for a local food bank, and I left there feeling inspired and grateful for the three years so far that I’ve been able to serve on the Community committee.

If you ever have an opportunity to apply for the PACC, I would highly recommend you do it.

*Also, Marc Oppen taught us how to play Pickleball. So fun!

Tell me your story! One of the most important parts of my role in communications is helping teams share their stories.
Not polished, perfect stories, but real ones.

I’m so lucky I get to witness the team coming together for volunteer events. Or a chef finding a creative way to reduce food waste. A manager recognizing their team in a meaningful way.

These moments are happening every day across Eurest. When we capture and amplify them, we inspire others to do the same.

So if your team is doing something great in your community, please let me know. I’d love to run it by our leadership and our Eurest comms team. Let’s inspire and learn from each other!

May is Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, so I am inviting some of our chefs and associates to share their culture and stories. Today’s feature is Sous Chef Johnny Duong :

“I began my journey with Eurest back in year 2021 as a line cook and as of today, I am the Sous Chef at Fluke Park Cafe48 under the guidance and leadership of Shane Sebesta. I am a first generation Vietnamese American. My inspiration for food came from my mother, who showed me the authenticity of Vietnamese Cuisine at a young age. My favorite dish from my culture is Bun Bo Hue, which translates to Spicy Beef Noodle Soup (see photo).

What I would love for people to know about Asian American Pacific Islander Month is that, although the food might be different than you are accustomed to, be open-minded to try new things because every new experience opens new doors.

When I’m not working, I enjoy watching my favorite football team New Orleans Saints play on Sunday, also hanging out with my beautiful wife and 5 kids spending time cooking as a family together.”

Chef Johnny, thank you for sharing your culture and your story with us, and with your guests in the marketplace. How lucky they are to experience your version of Bun Bo Hue!
