Rest in Peace, Dolly Parton 🕊️💔 Country music legend, actress, songwriter, philanthropist and theme park icon Dolly Parton has passed away at the age of 80. Her nephew announced the heartbreaking news on August 25, 2026. A cause of death has not yet been released. Born on January 19, 1946, in the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, Dolly grew up as one of 12 children before moving to Nashville the day after graduating from high school. From those humble beginnings, she built an extraordinary career spanning nearly seven decades. Dolly wrote and recorded some of the most beloved songs in music history, including “Jolene,” “Coat of Many Colors,” “9 to 5,” “Here You Come Again” and “I Will Always Love You.” Her songwriting, unmistakable voice, humor and warmth made her one of the most admired entertainers in the world. 🎶 Her film career included 9 to 5, The Best Little Wh******se in Texas, Rhinestone, Steel Magnolias and Joyful Noise. She received 11 Grammy Awards, joined the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1999 and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022. Disney Channel fans will remember Dolly’s appearances as Aunt Dolly, Hannah’s godmother, in three episodes of Hannah Montana between 2006 and 2010. The role reflected her real-life bond with goddaughter Miley Cyrus. She also voiced lawnmower race announcer Dolly Gnome in the Disney-released animated film Gnomeo & Juliet. ✨ Beyond entertainment, Dolly helped create Dollywood and founded the Imagination Library, which has gifted hundreds of millions of books to children around the world. Her generosity and commitment to education became as important to her legacy as her music. Dolly was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, who passed away in March 2025. Few people have brought as much music, laughter, kindness and hope into the world as Dolly Parton. Her songs will continue to be sung, her stories will continue to inspire and her generosity will continue changing lives for generations. Rest in peace, Dolly. You will always be loved. 🕯️🌸 #dollyparton #restinpeace #dollywood #musiclegend
